Has anyone had any experience or insight to the OnTime Defender ... https://www.ontimebike.com/products/defender-gravel-electric-bike.
I have had had a fat tire ebike for a year, but would like a lighter road/gravel bike for fitness riding with either a torque sensor hub drive or mid drive. Trying to keep cost under $1500.00 ... So considering a Velotric T1 (light torque/hub drive) but would take any other suggestions! Thanks all!

The Velotric looks very nice. Both bikes have small front chainrings. 40T on the Velotric and the Ontime looks like a 42T. Should not be an issue if you are a slow rider. I would want a 48T-52T chainring on roadways. 40T would be good if I used the bike on hills or mtn biking.
