Chinese manufacturers don't seem to be very interested in after sale repairs. They would prefer you buy a new bike rather than fix the one you already have. Even if the controller is the same as last years model, all the plugs might be different. That complicates repairs, and is one of the main reasons shops don't like to offer repairs to brands they don't sell.

It's not just the Chinese either, increasingly it's the same with dishwashers, washing machines, window air conditioners, televisions, ........

Beware of dismissing everything from China as a single block. The country is evolving rapidly, and there is a tendency to characterize everything from China as bad quality, but things, like it or not, are changing. There are many Chinese companies making quality products. And more and more there will be in the future, now that the space to cover markets has been saturated and there is nothing left to do but improve quality. China it's a HUGE and very complex reality.

Propella 2016; Aventon 2019. Neither are the longest but they have gotten past the start-up. who knows stage.

I don't dismiss all the Chinese companies - but no doubt, while quality is generally good across different brands, service and parts availability are not. Prospective buyers should do plenty of research.
