Disconnected 3 speed gear wire, now it clicks?

yes i converted a 3speed bike into a e bike

i disconnected the gear wire from the handle bars to the silver hub thing(i don't if i was sposta leave it on) but a lot of times it clicks, might be thinking to change gears?

but i want to stop it, can i?

Pretty certain you need some level on tension on that shifter cable. Next time you are removing things, if you are not sure if you are sposta leave it on, don't mess with it.
