I have a 2 yr old step through cruiser. I’ve noticed when applying the front brake, the front wheel appears to be pulled slightly to the left. Never noticed it before as I seldom use front braking unless rear brake cable needs adjustment.

Check the front axle make sure it is tight and not moving when braking.

My first impression was "impossible" but then I remembered a bike I worked on that did strange things when braking hard. Turned out it was a broken axle, held to the fork ends by the quick release lever. Never say Never.
