Hi there

I already have a mid-motor 750 full suspension bike for use as a workhorse bringing me to and from work very quickly. For that role its magnificent.

But 2 words: Big, Heavy

I really like my old small light analogue bike and the idea of lightly electrifying it keep cropping up.

So, the question is regarding geared (front) hub motors: Do they add friction when riding switched off, as in behaving and feeling like an ordinary bike?

If you have any advice, Thanks

You should have no problem I have used a couple of 500 watt DD front motor hubs on builds worked very well, but, heavy, for your usage I would recommend a Bafang 250 watt geared front hub motor , light with close to 40 nm torque. and a reasonably sized bottle or rack battery up to 10 ah should do the trick, keep it light so pedaling is not an issue.
