I have an Eahora x7 with a 48 volt 750 watt motor on it and its failing. i want to replace it but the manufacturer has told me they have no stock left and i would have to order from china and it would take 2 months by sea to get it. Can i just buy another hub motor with same specs and use it? or does it have to match the battery and controller on bike? they want 420 plus tax and shipping for new motor and wheel assembly.

48V 750w motor is pretty common setup, replacement motor/wheel should be easy to find on Alibaba or AliEx.
Take a picture of the label on your controller & connector to the motor,
that should give you an idea of what type of replacement motor/wheel you need.
Maybe time to upgrade to a cast wheel so you don't have to worry about spoke tension anymore.

does spoke tension cause motor issues?

Spokes eventually come loose, due to impact or just power of the hub.
To replace the hub motor, you have to unlace the wheel anyway, just as well replace with a cast wheel with motor built-in.
