I'm installing an Ebikeling front wheel hub motor on a Himiway Escape. Totally separate motor controls, controllers, and batteries. If I use pedal assist I'll use the Himiway system. Anybody think it's problem to not connect it up for the front wheel?

The activation method is not a problem. Read this thread to get a handle on the actual problems with using a front fork motor.

Thanks, ElHegpah, for steering me to that thread. In the time it took me to read all of it, I decided to abandon the project. The possibility of a face plant at 32 mph was not worth the 4 mph increase in speed over what I have now.

Some random thoughts about front wheel hub motors.
The Ebikeling kit came with two torque arms. At first I wondered why.
And the new Bandit X-Trail Pro has steel front forks. Did you consult with them on that, ElHegpah?
