Hi! Recently got the Wired Cruiser. Absolutely LOVE it! I know they're not waterproof, but water resistant. I'm wondering if anyone can inform me just where that line is? While I avoid even taking it out of the garage in wet weather (I also wash by hand, no hose) there are times when we get pop up storms. Is it safe for the electronics to ride in a very light rain (i.e. drizzle) or on wet pavement right after a storm? Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with this?

Does your bike have an IPX rating? That will tell you a lot.

According to someone on Reddit who spoke with customer service, the Cruiser has an ipx rating of 5. My bike is ipx6 and I have ridden it in the rain numerous times. I keep a baggie and a rubber band with me, to go over the display and a neoprene battery wrap for the battery in the frame and it all does fine.

If your bike has an IPX6 rating you can pretty much ride the thing in a monsoon. To have a IPX6 rating it must be able to be sprayed for 3 minutes with jets at 15 PSI at a rate of 100 liters (a bit more than 26 gallons) a minute. My bike has an IPX6 rating and there are videos of people fully submerging them for several minutes and starting them up and riding off. I would not recommend that though.

I wash my bike with a bucket hose and plenty of water. I do however try and avoid spraying the electronics directly more than I have to. Just looked it up my bike has an IP rating of 5.

Yep, pretty much. I was surprised too when I talked to Magicycle support to inquire.
I like it because the controller lives under the crank, the most likely place on the bike to be submerged riding in deep water.

Yes, my controller box fills up with sand, such is life on the coast.

Living two miles down an abandoned logging road I take my bike through lots of puddles nearly hub motor deep on my 26x4 setup. So far I haven't submerged anything electrical.

No, but I bet you have sprayed plenty of water from the front wheel on your controller housing.
