What kind of battery do I need to buy to replace a BL17 48v 10ah?

Can I upgrade for longer range? And if so what type? Or do I need to stick with these specs? My IZIP Peak has a Tranzx motor that are no longer in production and so they no longer make the battery.

Ebikemarketplace.com rebuilds these at 17 amp.hr, but the cost is prohibitive and I am not sure how they manage the control connections. You might consider trading your bike in to Upways and picking out a current used one, rather then spending $700.00 on a new battery for a motor that can't be supported anymore, that's just my absolutely unasked for opinion.

Thanks. What will the increase in amps do?

It's not amps It's amp hours. So, instead of having 480 watt hrs. With your old battery, You would have 816 watt hrs. If you are biking around at 300 watts, with your old battery you could go for 1.6 hrs. with a 17 amp hr. Battery you could go for 2.72 hrs. I have to stop doing math now. Here is an Endless Sphere article with the equation. You can play around with the numbers for what you think your wattage might be.
