Someone asked me what I carry on my bike, thought it may be fun to see what some of you good people carry with ya.

I have a rear rack bag, and a front basket. Normally in my front basket I have my water bottle, and a old warm coat. Comes in handy with cold, and something to sit on when taking a breather.

My rear bag, I carry a spare battery for my bike. and inside the top of the bag, I have first aid kit, portable charger for cell phone, and cords. I also have a set of handle bar jack stands. In the side of the bag, on one side, a tool bag and on the other side, I carry an extra tube, and bike pump, and tire spoons to change the tire. I wanna say my bag weighs about 50 pounds give or take.

I put my bike together with distance being the goal. I live in a small town in the mid west. So its fun to ride to other small towns around me.

In case you wonder. Here is the bag I carry.

I wish I was consistent with what I carry, but I have too many bikes and too few bags to leave one on each bike.

I have a similar bag by Topeak on my Level.2, which is my main commuter. I carry a spare tube and a bike multitool in there. More when I go further, but when I go further, it's usually on a muggle bike. I need to put the Handlebar Jacks in there, I have them and they're quite useful.

Water, phone, bike multitool, and TP. Also, my phone has tracking turned on, so If momma sees me not moving, she checks up on me.

The trail on the right of the image is the one I was on this weekend.

I had never heard of handlebar jack stands but I've needed them a few times already. Sounds like something fun to 3D print this weekend.

I'll carry the same basics as on the motorcycle - Small first aid and tire repair kits, the small tool kit that came with the bike and water. I carry other stuff on my person at all times but that's not cycling specific.

Lithium powered compressor, two tire patch kits, a full set of tools for roadside repairs, a medical emergency kit, two sets of high security locks and cables. All in the basket on the back of my eBike (or saddlebags of my other eBike.

Oh, I do keep flatout in both tubes. as well as this plastic thing i put in both tires that are supposed to hep prevent tube puncture. I really dont wanna deal with a flat tire. No idea if either or will really work or not, but I did everything I could to prevent it. If one day I do get a flat, you guys will see a thread about flatout and them plastic things dont work. I know I may carry or a bit to parinoid. Just hope that if I have it, I will never need it. I thought about just a multi tool, but my tool kit is already together. Sure as heck, I take it off my bike, I will be in the middle of no where cussing my self wishing I would of never done that. Oh, I did figure out how to use google maps to send my location to someone to come help. Here is a link to the plastic things I put in my tires.

Today Im gonna try a town that is a pretty good distance. See how my battery life is, the miles im getting out of it. Will say google maps, if I pick the bike icon, it sends me to my destination using black top. I will pop back on this thread after my trip is over, let you guys know now many miles I got on my battery, and how far I went. Hope you all have a good day.

In a rear rack bag I carry basic bike tools and a tire repair kit. Simple first aid kit and a small tire pump, also have a thin rain jacket, food, and my trusty Keltec P17.

Here are the liners I use.

I am sure you can find them cheeeper. I get about 35 miles out of one battery. If I didnt use so much assist, im sure I could go more. The battery range finder says I should get about 40. So Im super happy with my range. I am sure the flatout stuff I use eats some battery. But at my old age, I am not so sure I wanna sit on a bike seat for 70 plus miles. I did forget, I wear a saftey vest. Buddy says if I get hit wearing that thing they were aiming for me. I keep some anti dog pepper spray in my pocket. I will only use that as a last resort. Hope I can out run one. So far knoick wood, have not had any issues.

Thanks for the links. I like that calculator, might use it later once I start putting some miles on.

I had forgotten until you mentioned it but I put some pepper spray in a small holster on the handlebars for dogs and such. It's not so bad on the motorcycle because I can accelerate past a dog but on the bike it's going to be different.

Ditto. Handle bar jack is new to me....and all of a sudden, essential.

I carry stuff like cans of sardines, crackers, bottles of water, even some Indian packets of food that all you have to do is rip off the top. Plus I carry extra plastic spoons, forks, knives, along with some folded paper towels. If I get a flat I don't want to get hungry! I have my cell phone to call for someone to pick me up. I have tire liners and so far they have held out.

Besides my bike, number 1 is a phone. 2. a credit card. Usually a little cash too, emphasis on little, because of her. Sometimes a cable lock that fits in my pocket. That's usually about it.

Re. the Handlebar Jacks, I have a set of them. They're nicely designed and American made, but after seeing the simpler ones in Post #14 above, it occurred to me these could be mass produced for pennies apiece.

I looked on Amazon, nothing similar.

AliExpress? Bingo. $5 a pair leaves enough for profit but still a killer value. I think I will order at least two sets:
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808527995324.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.2ce0Lw4dLw4dyU&algo_pvid=01658012-4364-4a71-8a2e-8389db53dffa&algo_exp_id=01658012-4364-4a71-8a2e-8389db53dffa-0&pdp_ext_f={"order":"64","eval":"1"}&pdp_npi=4@dis!USD!10.43!4.70!!!74.81!33.72!@2101ec1a17472310852697795e1bf6!12000046358043970!sea!US!0!ABX&curPageLogUid=onP1h1ax8YPZ&utparam-url=scene:search|query_from:

Edit: AliExpress would not let me order two 2-packs (pairs) of them, only a 2-pack and a single. (to get the price above $10 and get free shipping)

To hell with that, so I ordered just a 2-pack and paid the $2 shipping; about $10 all-in. I only hope I see them by the end of the year, as they are VERY slow to ship at that price...
