I am very new to this so I don't have the terminology right.

The Velotric bike does not have a throttle. It assists when it feels you pedaling (I think.) Two weird things:

-When stopped (and feet on the ground) it will sometimes decide to accelerate. I have to be quick to the brakes but it has caused some stressful moments. What causes this? Is this normal or a feature of these particular bikes or a defect?

-When I am pedaling sometimes it feels like I am getting no assist. (The battery lights are 4 out of 5 on so I assume it is sufficiently charged.) I can distinctly feeling the assist "engaging" and disengaging. Again is this normal or something I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

Pito

That doesn’t seem right at all. Contact Velotric urgently. An e-bike taking off all by itself is pretty scary at best and obviously could be very dangerous. I wouldn’t ride the bike until you’ve got to the bottom of it.

It could be something simple like a dirty/faulty cadence sensor or maybe a sticky freewheel, something like that. Your local bike shop should be able to check those things.
