Last week I had to make a decision to either lock my bike using the cafe lock which is built onto the rear wheel. This is pretty good to keep the honest people away. But you can still lift the bike and throw it into a truck fairly quickly.

I was visiting a friend and had to make the decision of either leaving it in their apartment Thruway or try to muscle it up a flight of stairs.!

Since the bike is so new I decided to take it up the stairs. So I used the walk mode.

Very simply I lifted the front wheel on the first step turned on walk mode had a hand on the brake lever just in case. And was able to walk this 54 lb bike up the stairs at a- walk pace!

It was the first time that I've used that in a real situation other than just testing it on flat surface.

This worked out very well and I could see if you were on a very soft dirt path and needed to push the bike. Or if you were in a situation where you just couldn't pedal anymore like going up a Long Hill! It's perfect for that. Any thoughts or real life experiences using this mode?

I used the walk mode on my KBO Breeze when I took it down to the edge of a river and had to bring it back up the bank that was steep and rocky. Works like a charm!

Walking it down the steep river bank was fun too. No walk mode but both brakes were utilized!

I've used walk mode on my bike quite a few times and it always makes me smile. Without the walk mode I wouldn't have been able to make it through some of the really nasty places around here. Hills I have trouble walking up it walks up with ease and helps me along too.

It can be helpful but I wish it was a little bit faster. It's faster on the BBS02 than it is on the BBSHD that I own for some reason. With a mid drive you could shift into a higher gear but that's not always something you want to do if you are going to be getting back on and you want it to still be in your low gear.

Our home has a walkout basement into the back yard with covered patio where we keep our bikes. Its up hill to the front yard and walk mode works really well for us. At first I didn't know how useful it would be but we soon found out.

Glad to see this post, as that was going to be my question when registering on this forum! I am moving to an apartment complex where I will be on the 2nd floor (straight set of stairs up), and definitely do not want to lock my bike up outside and very much want to keep my Velotric Nomad 1 safe inside my apartment. Any other words of advice or things you noticed to be aware of before I make my first attempt using walk mode up the flight of stairs? I must admit, I'm quite nervous about it with such a nice (and expensive) ebike haha! Thanks for any other advice or things you have learned from doing that, as I'll be doing that most every day up and down the stairs.

You can modulate your speed, keep it in the lowest assist mode and one finger on the brake lever probably the rear brake would be easier if your walk mode is on your left side as you're walking. Also yes like someone else mentioned definitely test it out on the flat ground walking.
it it's super easy to do as you get used to it you'll see how convenient it really is.

Just a few days ago I had to use walk mode again as I was down in South County Southern California on a riverbed trail that was coming toward the beach, and I noticed that the bike trail was beginning to flood, well I got past the first flooded section very easily and slowly, but the second section was a slippery slope meaning that the only part left was a dirt path that was on an angle and the rest of it was in the water.

Unknown what lurked beneath that I opted to walk the bike on the dirt as I footed it just on the water's edge.

The dirt was very slippery and Sandy and if I was to try to ride on it I most likely would have slipped right into the water and then who knows what would have happened.

My tires on my bike are rather narrow so I did not want to take any chances of a front wheel washout. If I was on a wide fat tired bike or a mountain bike no problem I just would have powered right through it. Walk mode is a Well thought out design

Thanks so much! Will keep all that in mind! I'm heading out to ride shortly, and will definitely get some walk-mode time in as well to get comfortable with the speed and the feeling of it before I ever tackle the stairs

Walk Mode. I use it every time I go out. For up/down a flight of stairs, short and brutal slopes, tight areas. Great feature.

Aside from experimenting with the feature, I hadn't used it until Wednesday.

I was out on the eFatty on the mountain bike trails. There was one very steep section leading up to the road. Riding it would've required a running start and no traffic and no flaws in execution. So I held in the - button to engage Walk Mode and just walked it up. It was awesome. I would do something similar if I were a cliff-dweller.
