Can you have too much lights?
I saw a rental ebike with a strong underglow and it got my attention. I just put in 2 green underglow lights.

Unless it is legally a motorcycle the lights don’t have to comply with motorcycle guidelines. Bicycle lighting falls into a grey area. Standards for output, outside of an crappy minimum distance, and cut off patterns haven’t been set which has lead to things like my roadbike having far more powerful lighting than my last motorcycle while having no beam control at all. The light is focused to a hard round beam that lights everything in front of me for a solid block and has the road signs reflecting back at me for much further down the road. A lamp like this wouldn’t pass on any licenced / DOT controlled road vehicle but since there’s dick for rules on bikes it’s okay. In my area it just has to have a white or amber headlamp, a red taillight or reflector and suitable side reflectors. Oddly the reflectors often are marked as DOT approved but that’s likely so they can be used on road going motor vehicles.

Colours are a different matter, green is not an acceptable colour for any vehicle light as it is the colour of a “go” light, so you could take some stick over that.

More lights are better though.

Obviously the rules regarding bicycles, and e-bikes in particular, really do need updating.

I have a 8000 lumen light on another bike that has no cutoff. I try to point it down and dont use its hghest setting.
The Revv1 has the best headlight. Its very bright and its lens makes a full cutoff.
How about yellow underglow lights?

Yellow/amber is a standard colour for running and warning lights… who could object to that?

In the past I’ve found that what passes on the street is directly related to what mood the cop is in and how much he likes / dislikes your ride.

I used to run a Korean War era military motorcycle on the street pretty regularly. It still had its blackout mask on it headlight, which was legal as long as the sun was up. I got pulled pretty regularly on that bike. I once got asked to prove it was old enough to predate the requirement for daytime running lights (1970). I asked if he was kidding and then told him to look at the bike.

Compared to some of the "new" bikes produced in India post 1970 on it looks positively modern!:giggle:
Nice old timer, I can see you look after it well.(y)
You mean these things?

I ran this 93 Enfield India for 17 years, it was the most reliable bike I ever owned and outlasted the Kawasaki Ninja that replaced it.

I switched my lights to yellow. They look good. They look more yellow than the picture shows.
I spoke to a guy on one of the rental bikes. Only a small percentage of the bikes have the underglow. I found one and got a close look at its lights. They all lit up and flashed when I tipped the bike over to look. The light is 12 LEDs in a clear bar about a foot long under the frame. Its very close to the ground and makes a small, intensely lit area.
My lights are 28" off the ground and make a larger lit area.
