So a couple of days ago my wife's swagtron eb7 elite plus died. Battery is fully charged. When we try to turn on the display it will not start, blanks screen with white led and as soon as I release the power button it shuts off. Can hear a clicking sound at the motor hub. Checked for loose connections. Nothing. Checked the controller and noticed one red led light turns on but goes off as soon as I release the power button. Guessing it is a bad controller. I tried removing the display and shorting the power on so it would start but nothing. Looking on the internet for a replacement controller with no success. Swagtron contact has been useless. No reply after multiple emails. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I could try. I figured out some of the connectors. The rest I need to trace where they go to since I noticed an couple of 5pin connectors sharing some ground and other wiring which is kind of awkward. Thanks for the help.

would you be good with figuring out the pin out on the wiring / connectors?

If so i say this alot but get one of these and wire it up and boogie down the road....

Something like this:

Hi. I managed to trace the wires and connectors, even the odd 5 pin one with multiple connections. It is for the horn and headlamp. The other sensors for pas and throttle are 3 pin jst or sm connectors, 2 ebrake connectors and a 9 pin motor connector. I am looking some on ebay an AliExpress to see if there is something similar. For the horn and lamp, I guess I can use a different switch and just rewire them, as long as there is a light power connector on the controller. The display is a 5 pin connector for a en06 display. Do you know if I need a pure sine wave controller or these cheap ebikes can work with a regular one. Noticed a lot of sellers stating that certain kt-xxx controllers only work with kt- sensors and such. Anyone heard of this? Thanks for the help provided.

Hi, sorry to hear you have fallen into the deep dark abyss of ebike controllers. I looked at Swagtrons site and they are not even selling Dongguan jing controllers there now. They are selling Jytcon for their bikes. As for the en06 display, as HumanPerson can tell you they are programmed by each controller Co. to only work a certain way with a certain product and then are locked. There are people on these boards who have had numerous en06 displays sent to them from their own bike company, only to have them not function because it was a different model year. So, save yourself the grief and get a new display with your new controller. As to sinewave I don't think I've ever ridden a bike that didnt have it, so I can't attest to how much choppier it would be. I would think sinewave would be worth it, since the whole system is smaller and less powerful any way. You seem to know what you are doing with the plugs. Ebay and Google have pictures that label them. Looking into all this, a shop called Monster Scooter Parts kept cropping up. They seem to be out of all things Swagtron, but you might reach out to them to ask the easiest way to fix this. Other than that, you will have to set a lot of parameters with a KT controller but there are many YouTube videos on how to do it.You might watch a few before you start. I will post a couple of pics. You can check this store on Ebay and see if the plugs and box sizing are right.

Thanks for your feedback. I will consider the kt controller and display. Only question I have is if this KT controllers will work with my current pas and throttle or I need to replace those as well? Also heard of JN controllers and displays. What do you think of these?

KT may or may not work with your throttle, sometimes people do have to switch wires around. There are a lot of different KT displays, some with throttle. You also have to consider the larger ones are easier to set parameters on because more of the menu is visible at one time. There are full KT kits for about the same amount of money, if you can find the one that suits your bike. In searching for this information about Swagtron, I found more came up when I used the word "scooter". I will post what I think is your throttle pinout, as best I can tell. Usually PAS sensors work but there are no guarantees. I don't know JNControllers. I saw some on Aliexpress that seemed fine, but do they have one with a 9 pin motor plug? If so, and you bought the full kit, it might work well. I know it's a bit of a mess, but it all can be sorted. Let us know how it goes.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I have found some people that sell those kt controller with a 9 pin connector. I got this Chinese ebikes manufacturer on Ali express that claims he can make my same controller with the code but I seems fishy for some reason. I noticed mine has like two 5 pin connectors, one is for the display but the other is a weird bridge they made for connecting the horn and light to the controller and then a wire also connects apart, to the display. So I am guessing its an in house design for using less two pin controllers. This is my throttle wiring. It has a green red and black wires. Thanks for all the help provided.

Hi, your throttle is simpler than I thought, that's good. Funny though, I found a swagtron Eb7 throttle on Ebay and it was of the 5 wire type. I'm not seeing a lot of model continuity here. They seem to be building bikes in batches of whatever they have. As for someone on Aliexpress wanting to build a controller, a lot of controllers can be one-offs for a particular company. People who rep. for Lishui on Aliexpress always wants to know all the specifics before sending you a controller, so it may be a good thing, you would have to check their reviews. Keep us updated.

Hi. Folks. Update. I bought a controller from AliExpress that is the same and had the same issue with the blank en06 display So I ordered a new one. Now I am getting an e10 error with both controllers. Not sure if it is something I have wrongfully configured in the new en06 display or if it is a faulty motor, at last. I had a flat tire before and took it to a bike shop for replacing the tire but not sure if they broke something on the motor now

I am also getting no speed reading and no throttle. Only pedal assist.

Could it be an issue with the communication protocol on the new display and not matching that of the controller?

Hi Annie. I've been looking through the scarce but available info on communication protocols and just found out the EN06 display I ordered is only Uart 2 compatible. So that is why I am getting now the Error code 10 on the display. Any ideas as to what other protocol a swagtron bike could use? I am looking for a display that allows we to switch between protocols to try it out. Thinking of the S866.

I don't know that there are any displays that will let you switch protocols. M@Robertson knows the most, around here, about controllers. EN06 has always been a problem. If you search above you can see what a problem it has been. I also don't really know swagtron, except for trying to track down the occasional part for people. Let me look around a bit and get back to you. Do you have a multimeter so that you can trace some wiring if you need to? It sounds like you've been learning a lot in the past few months.

Looking over this I am confused. Did you buy a controller and a display together? And what controller did you buy? We've had people buy EN06 displays from their same particular bike manufacturer that did not work because they were programmed differently from one year to the next. Were you getting error 10 before all this happened? It is a nebulous error code. You may need to go over your wiring.

Hi Annie. Thanks for the reply. I bought the EN06 display from aliexpress since swagtron is no longer selling spares. I also got a duplicate controller from a chinese manufacturer. It is the same company that makes the controller for swagtron. They didn't sell the display though. Only the controller. I was looking at Sciwil, which manufactures many ebike displays including the EN06 display and found a serial number on my old controller. However, it doesnt tells me much other than that display is sold in both UART and CAN bus protocols. Read that the e10 error code is a fault in communication between the display and the motor. So I am guessing that the new EN06 display they sold me with the UART No. 2 comm protocol is not compatible. Guessing my bike uses the CAN bus protocol or the 5S protocol? Never had this issue before. My old display just went blank and would turn on the ebike at all.

Hi all,
I have some insight on this. I have the swagtron orange eb7 elite plus. I currently have it semi working after purchasing a new en06 display and a jn143-a05005 controller.

I think you are having the same issue ive had recently. The confusing part is the half twist throttle. I still have the original one hooked up. It has 5 wires. When looking at it with the clip side down it has white, yellow, red, blue, then black. I made a harness that separated the red, blue, and black wires since they are for the throttle. This throttle also has a button on it. It is for the horn and i believe if you hold it down it turns the headlight on and off.

The headlight is a combo horn and light. I need to confirm with a multimeter, but hopefully this info helps. Another note is that the bike originally turns on by holding the power button on the en06 display. I think swagtron used a throttle with button typically used to power on, but the button is a momentary contact switch and not a locking one. Apologies if mine is wired differently than yours but let me know if my memory of how the bike accessories functioned originally.

I don't think this is a protocol problem. The display is talking about how it can be set up, not how it is set up. Frankly, as far as I know, we have never had someone with an EN06 display, bought separately from the controller, actually work. If anything misterjuco says, helps, that's great, but I think the issue is more than the throttle. Swagtron is not supportive of its products. According to Reddit it is currently out of business. If you continue with this, you should realize you are now just building an ebike. The parts will have to be independent of the bike. I don't know what you do if the motor is toast. You are going to have to decide how far to go, considering the parts are no longer supported. You could sell the bike for the parts and find something more reliable. Are you in the country of Panama or one of the cities named that way? I am sorry I am not of more help, but this seems to be the circumstance.

Thanks for the feedback. What protocol is your en06 display?

Thanks Annie. I am in Panama the country in central America. It would be kind of difficult to sell the bike for parts down here since the ebike business down here is barely starting if not null. I wrote to sciwil which is the original manufacturer of the en06 display since my original one has a code on the back. Hoping to get some more info on it to see if I could make a last try and find the correct display with the proper comm protocol. Read that some have the no 2 protocol or 5s protocol. Also talking to the controller manufacturer to see which display he recommends me. Thanks for all the help provided.
