Lots and LOTS of seats available. It is a personal choice, based on rider weight and width and ride type desired.
Attachment is nearly universal.
Biggest mistake most folks make is not getting a seat which is correctly sprung for their weight, and wide enough for their ass, while allowing for the desired amount of pedaling. Chafing can be a major issue.
It is a near-certainty that your wife will prefer something different than you do. Because she is built differently.
If you want someone to tell you how much ketchup to put on your french fries, I found a litely-sprung cheap seat off an old Huffy to be the best I have tried, and I have tried many.
There are folks who swear by, and will pay a lot for, the leather Brooks saddle which I thought was damn near the most UN-comfortable thing I have ever encountered, and that was compared to other "racing" saddles.

I would only add this, from a somewhat ‘anal’ perspective, since trial and error is the only TRUE solution to satisfaction, Amazon will be my preferred outlet because with a nearby Kohls, returns can be done with a 6th grade education!
That’s how simple Amazon has made that return procedure!
