What's your plans this spring and summer riding your E Bikes.
Are you wanting to ride on trails or paths? Maybe take a ride on roads, bike lanes around your towns. Even take your e bikes on trips like I see with RV'S at camps.
I'm planning all the above for this year and to get fresh air and excise. But to enjoy it me and my e bike. Everywhere we have very cool area's to go check out, hopefully with family and friends. Here in Redding cal I want to take the Sacramento River pave trail about 10 miles to Shasta dam. I've talked to many bike riders and e bikers who have rode it and me as a ride to do. Other's tell me they go up in the summer and ride the ski area's and that sounds fun.
So tell us what trips you plan to do and how much fun you have.
Life is what we make it so tell us or post a few pictures to get us all excited this summer ahead.

Safe riding to all of you and have fun.
Jimbo

Back to my 4 to 7 miles each evening for exercise. We live rural.....can ride many different routes.......mostly paved roads but little traffic......we have a beautiful path along the river......lots of wildlife in our area......always see something.....eagles.....deer....elk......beautiful riding.....love it.

I live in a small city in SE Wisconsin. They are starting to make investments in bicycle infrastructure. That, combined with the fact that the city's laid out on a grid makes it pretty bicycle-friendly. Now the roads themselves are pretty bad, but the Suntour shock seatpost, combined with the front shock fork, make it pretty doable.

I plan to do a lot of local errands on the eBike this year. This past week, I got the Topeak rack mounted up so I could get the trunk bag with fold-down saddle bags mounted. I changed the oil on my car. The fold-out saddlebags are just big enough to each take a 5 qt. oil jug, so I took the bike to AutoZone to drop off the old oil to be recycled. On the way back, I stopped by the local grocery store to get a bottle of wine for my wife. It fit in the main compartment, with the two oil filters. I also hit a new top speed. With a slight downhill and probably a 15 mph tailwind, I was able to hit 30 mph with only PAS1. It was GLORIOUS.

I want to do more rides like this, this summer. Grocery runs, a ride to the lake (Michigan) for a picnic now and then. I MIGHT be able to get my wife to join me on the Lectric XP Lite, to which I just mounted fenders with my 11 year old daughter today.

I’m hoping to do a long weekend trip up to Burlington Vermont and check out the Island Line Rail Trail which goes right out across Lake Champlain! While there we will definitely cruise around town and check out the many breweries Burlington has to offer!

What time are we going? :)

I am getting ready for a pending ride starting after the snow is gone, May/June?
Right now there is 2-4'+ of snow on the trail.
This will be about a 120+ mile ride one way, my plan is taking 1-2 days with a sleep over, along the trail, Unknown yet?

This will be the trip location and final destination:
https://tahoepyramidtrail.org/,
here are the main trail sections :
https://tahoepyramidtrail.org/tahoe-pyramid-trail-sections-overview/,
if you care to look at them.

I'll be starting at Lake Tahoe and going down river, instead of riding uphill.....LOL
Since this is a long way to ride, (I get between 80-110 miles on dual batteries), I plan on carrying 2 extra batteries for back up.

The question I have is this,
How is the best way to carry/safely protect these 2 batteries,
which are 18" long by 3-1/2" square and weigh approximately 8# each,
(and not burn up this beautiful trail/forest).
I prefer to NOT carry these battery's on my back, as I'll have a small pack for needed items, water/food medical items etc. I have a back rack that is empty, but don't like the Idea of these battery's being bounced around on my hardtail bike.

I do have a piece of 3/4" thick Dense Ethafoam, that I can wrap around them and provide a softer cushion while strapped on the back rack.
I don't know if I'll be pulling my single wheel game trailer yet,
as I am waiting on some information back as to trail conditions etc.
Your thoughts and suggestions............
Tia,
Don

Bubble rap around them maybe in that foam . Sounds good the trail. After this winter we're having. I'm in Redding. The mountains needed the snow but getting a little extra. You mite be waiting a while before it's open you think. . Bet e biking it will have great stories and pictures. Be safe .
Keep us posted.

I hope to replace the bike in this pic with the new e-roadie - so I can ride further, longer, & multiple days in-and-around our Washington volcanoes. Rainier, Adams, St Helens this year; Baker & Glacier Peak next year, and a 'Hwy 20 Cascade passes' trip over to Winthrop anytime the chance might arise. For the purpose of enjoying the multitudinous surroundings and scenes - available both paved and graveled - rather than the accumulation of miles, or other data.

Very cool, I used to live in lk stevens and worked at Boeing at Everett for 30yrs. Became a rv snow bird since 2010 and now living in Redding cal. When I was a kid I climbed with my older 4 brothers and shopped at REI. Lot of great years in Washington and have been all over that state and loved it. Sounds like a great plan riding all those spots, so beautiful up there.
You be safe and enjoy the rides. We'll be waiting to hear and see pictures.

The motor assist will make the task more relaxing than before.
Morton or Randle on Hwy12 make a wonderful base for several days of exploring.
Left approaches Mt Adams, Right toward St Helens - a quiet approach, not the I-5 side.

It wasn't a perfect day, but it's never a bad day if I can get a little ride.
Stopped here to see if anyone was golfing. There were a few!

Short healthy ride into old Town Redding witch has been going threw a new updating. Some pictures of the Bike depot which is part of Shasta streets bike, walk, trails friendly area's for family, and vistor center. Will have bike storage, food, drinks for the city and visitors. May 12th opening and will be very nice, just wish they get more roads painted for bikes and new bike lanes around city . The city is working for more bike lanes farther out to downtown from all sides so to have a better bike town for visitors to come here and locals.

I live right next to the B&A bike trail. It runs from Annapolis MD to Glen Burnie MD (13miles) with an extension that loops around BWI airport (12 miles). The place I'm looking forward to riding this summer though is the C&O canal towpath. It runs from Washington DC (Georgetown) to Cumberland MD 184 miles. So level riding except the 8 ft. elevation changes at each lock. I used to ride it on a two speed English bicycle as a kid. We would camp along the way. This was before it was designated a national park back in the 60's. Can you imagine turning your 14 year old kid loose for a week on his own to go bicycle camping with a buddy? Back then it was no big deal. We did it more than once too.

I need to get a bike rack for my SUV before I can get over there to the towpath. It is a fantastic place to ride and if you ever get in the vicinity you shouldn't miss it. If you're real ambitious, you can continue from Cumberland on the GAP trail on up to Pittsburgh. I only plan on day trips, no camping.

I just signed up at peopleforbikes.org (an American bicycle activism company)

They have a 31 Rides in May challenge: https://ridespot.azurewebsites.net/rides/979157

I can't ride every day, because here in SE WI, it rains about half of May. Plus, I have to drive my daughter a few days a week and it makes biking impractical. So it MAY be a challenge! On the other hand, every day I commute is 2 rides and if I stop at the grocery store on the way home, that's 3 rides.

**************

I also joined the 2023 Great Climate Bike Challenge challenge: https://ridespot.azurewebsites.net/rides/876286

I have a late start on this one, so it's going to be a REAL challenge!

We are spending the summer in Bar Harbor, from our campsite we can ride to Acadia NP and to Bar Harbor.
We love to ride the carriage roads through Acadia. Last year we discovered night rides, we ride up to watch the sunset and then enjoy a ride back in the dark. It is so peaceful and quiet after dark.
We ride slow and take it all in. Last year I saw my first shooting star, a few bats, deer and a porcupine crossing the road.
I hope everyone enjoys their rides this year
