My new Lectric Xpedition 2.0 cargo bike, came out in the fall, is needing a spare battery for long runs. I was wondering if anyone had sourced one from other than the OEM, who's pricing is brutal. I've checked Temu and Alibaba with no definite matches with pin config or BMS. Anyone? I would be very grateful.... Thank you for the privilege to post this question.
W/thx,

So, that style battery is really just a Hailong style with whatever battery base they put on it. If you get your measurements right, there is no reason you can't put on a stock battery with whatever new base it needs. If you dig into your current base it should end at a xt60 connector, that would be all that is necessary to connect a new base with your current system, that and the battery has to be able to slide into the frame. The yellow plug in the pictures is your xt60. Take a look at yours and see what you think.

I was hoping for the same 5 pin base and 17.5 ah unit to facilitate quick battery change outs as well as utilizing my fast charger style porting. It's a dual parallel battery system. Your right, having a different base would give me more battery options. thanks for responding....

You could email these folks. I know they rebuild Lectric. I don't know if they have cases available. They are very reputable and you can choose high quality cells. People have found them to be affordable.View attachment 20508
Thank you Annie...for taking the time to help out....I appreciate you!

Hi Annieolnie,
Big shout out to Kevin @ Northeast Battery, who took time today to look at Lectric's proprietary new battery technology
as he has not seen it in the field or shop yet. I really appreciate his time and expertise for a work around solution. Thank you Annieolnie for the referral.(y)

I am using 2 after market 48v 20a batteries plus the oem. If you are good at wiring it is not too bad a job. market battery $150 vs $500 for oem

Northeast Battery Systems, and Kevin are great to work with. They have good prices (just keep in mind, the oem 17.5 ah is $600) compared to OEM and can work with you to give you a solution that is particular to your circumstance.

So adding a second battery is easy as far as wiring goes. The hard part is mounting the battery in a good spot. I did this:

That's a second, 40AH, 48V battery. Simple wiring xt60 connector to battery, other end to load balancer in the same compartment as the oem controller. OEM battery connect to load balancer and load balancer connects to controller where the oem battery originally went.

In the process of testing range, will inform when I have more info. A 10 mile ride barely lowered the voltage. Controller still shows 100%.

I used some angle aluminum and some aluminum strips from Home Depot.
It's all bolted together. Comes apart easily.

Edavis, I was hoping for batteries with the same pin config but, Northeast Battery hasnt seen it on the market yet. It's not that im lazy... but i was trying to keep it uniform. Your right, I could tie it in parallel like and be done, but it's already is a two battery set up. Really looking to just bag a spare without breaking the bank. Lectrics' 17.5 AH 48vdc are $600. Hey, thanks for trying to help!
