I have a Serfas eDash Plus 500 with a Bafang® 500W 48V Mid Drive motor and I had an accident with it and broke the display. This is the question; can i get a different display that will turn this bike from a class 3 to a class 2, rather then get the same display, and if so any suggestions, thanks in advance.

I think you better make sure to match the controller with the display. Also fairly certain the class / speed / power are all the controller where as the display is just the coms port / screen.

The controller and the display are one unit that plugs into the bike as a unit. so the question should be is there a controller display combination that are compatible as long as the pin configuration is the same.

Hi, thanks for showing your plug. I was about to go down a completely different midrive road. You have one of the newer midrives which uses canbus, which sadly Bafang has made proprietary. They have new displays still coming out. Johnny Nerdout has a very current video on midrive canbus displays you can watch. The Eggrider display looks good, but it is so new, that it has sold out and I can't yet find a manual for it. The EKD01 display might be your best fit for the time being. It let's you set a speed limit, very simply, which would allow you to set it to class 2 speed or class 3 speed as you wish. It is not the quickest way to do it, but it is easy enough. There are a number of different instruction videos for it. JohhnyNerdout also covers it in his quick overview. All of these displays come in different models for different motors, so just make sure you are looking at the model or the instructions for the one meant for Canbus. I'm interested in the new Eggrider, so if I ever find the manual, I'll add to the post here.

One more note. You have a midrive. Your controller is a completely different animal. It will be inside your motor and specific to your model. The new Bafangs can be programmed, if you wish, but you will have to pay Bafang handsomely for the privilege.
