Roll Road Emma 3.0

Recently bought a Roll-Road Emma 3.0. Got it together with some minor problems, got it unlocked, and on the road.
My favorite bike that I have owned was the Himiway Escape, so a lot of my review of the Emma will be in comparison to the Escape.
I wanted a moped style bike with a little more top end speed and street tires which don't buzz like the knobbies on the Escape. The Emma does those two.

So far, minor gripes about getting the seat bolted on. Getting the nuts on to the bolts inside the frame was almost impossible because of the lack of space inside the battery compartment under the seat. It takes baby size hands and the bike upside down. Even then all 6 of the holes don't properly line up so all the nuts can be tightened properly. I'll have to work on that some more. I managed to get 3 nuts on and tight. The seat is firmly attached.
The second bolt hole misfits are on the luggage rack that goes behind the seat. When the side bolts are in, the vertical bolt holes don't line up. I used zip ties the in place of those. I zip tied a half milk crate on to the rack to carry my lock, cable, and bungie cords. Same as I did on my Himiway. And a pair of mirrors.
Here's a photo of the Emma as it sits right now.
I have issues with it as well. Created a FB group - https://www.facebook.com/share/bdzNvYoisDVdwNth/?mibextid=K35XfP

I gave up on the effort to change to cadence sensing. The RollRoad techs recommended against it. So It's a minor irritation because I use pedal assist very little.

Yea, put them on my Emma 2.0 but when I got the 3.0- had to move them over because they just looked so good on the all black. Took the CST tires and put them on my White Emma 2.0 which looks awesome. The Vee Speedster tires are great for the road and thats mainly what I use my bike for.
Any issues on getting the rear wheel off the bike to change the tire?
Thx.

I took mine out the other day and was mainly using pedals no throttle. I would vary my pedal assist from 2-5 depending on the terrain. So not sure if you are trying to maintain a certain speed or just need a boost. But in playing around for me pedal assist level of like 7 was way to easy it was like free spinning but 3 was a good blend for me.
I ride in Meet-Up groups, and they like to go between 10 and 12 mph on flat rail trails for 20-30 miles. I like to split the work 50/50 with me doing 50% of the work and the motor doing 50% of the work. What assist level would you think would match up to 12 mph?
Thx.

Nope but it's a process for sure. I found it helpful to turn the bike upside down to change out the tires. I just had to do it this weekend as one of my Vee Speedster toes lost it's edge and wouldn't hold your so I ended up switching to the CST Tourance... Needed the heavier you're for the heavier 3.0

If it has hydraulic brake systems ya might want to be sure ya don't need to bleed the brakes when ya turn it upside down.

I had one bike that had to be bled even if it was lay down on it's side :ROFLMAO:

You may not need to but it's always good to know and to check ;)

Buyer BEWARE!
The Emma 3.0 is well built, but if you order one you are stuck with it. The return policy is extremely strict... in fact, inhumanly strict. I don't see how, after clicking the purchase button, anyone could ever return the bike for a refund. Even BEFORE it ships they won't let you cancel.

The same can be said about Rad bikes.

I'm looking at buying either an Emma 3.0 or a Di Rodi Rover Pro (not out until November) As I will use it a LOT on private property, I'd like to override the restriction settings that are imposed on models sold in Australia, that limit them to 6km/h all throttle, and 25km/h pedal assist.
The Di Rodi has the codes available online to do this, but I've not found anything online for the Emma 3.0

I'm very much favouring the Emma for a lot of reasons, however; those restrictions are crazy for use on a large private property. I have to be able to turn them off or it's not a viable option for us.
Of course I'd also like to be able to set it back to road legal settings when going into town - the penalties for being found with a bike on-road that's had the limits turned off, are quite significant in our ridiculously regulated country.
Is it possible to set up an Emma 3.0 to have those kinds of restrictions overridden, and put them back at will?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I did a Google Search on "can roll road emma be unlocked?" and found this:

Yes, the Roll Road Emma 3.0 ebike can be unlocked to reach speeds of up to 35 mph, but the process requires entering a password within the display's personalized parameter settings. To unlock it, you must simultaneously press the power, plus, and minus buttons to access the settings, input the password 1212, then navigate to the 08P parameter and set the value to 60. [1, 2]

Here are the detailed steps: [2]
  1. Turn on: the ebike's display by pressing the power button.
  2. Enter the settings menu: by pressing the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons simultaneously for more than two seconds.
  3. Enter the password:
    • Use the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons to change the numbers.
    • Use the I button (information or power button, depending on your display) to toggle the number position.
    • Enter the password 1212.
  4. Find the speed parameter: by pressing the plus and minus buttons to scroll through the parameters until you find 08P (or a similar speed limit parameter).
  5. Adjust the speed limit: Press the I button to toggle the speed numbers, then adjust them to 60.
  6. Save the settings: by long-pressing the I button.

I'm not sure why you didn't find that in your own search; maybe the wrong search terms...

New to forum. New to RollRoad and to Emma 3.0. This is my third e-bike and my wife’s forth. I really like the Emma with only a very few problems.
A odd error code displayed when braking. Just indicates that the power is off. I have 2 Emma’s, one shows code the other doesn’t. Go figure.
Bigger problem was that the second under seat battery would not accept a charge. Return has taken a month. New one due Monday. Having 2 bikes with 2 batteries each sure makes troubleshooting a lot easier! Especially when texting to a Chinese speaker (texter?) who maybe in China. Very courteous & competent but slow. I would love a real US based customer support.

High points are the performance. Quick, stable, comfortable! Quality of built & components are excellent. Only downside is that it is heavy.
Thoughts, observations, problems welcome.

Try unplugging, one at a time, your motor cutoffs at the brake levers. One of them might be glitching out a bit and giving you a code.

True. All the permutations of levers & cables did not change the code display. The tech folk decided it was just an oddity in the controller. Brakes & power cut out work fine. I now know how to adjust the power brake lever. Many Thanks for your input.
