While riding a Ridstar Q20 my grandson lost his front wheel mid-wheelie and crashed. He's ok, but the forks are toast.
I understand this is a common problem with these bikes, of course I realize these bikes are not designed for this type of riding. Tell that to a 14 yr old!
So, I am looking for new forks, Amazon has a million of them but tons of reviews mention this same problem with replacements.
I'm looking for advice as to what and where to obtain decent forks that don't cost more than the bike itself...if possible,
Thanks!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but like everything else in life you get what you pay for.
You want cheap you get cheap.

Oh, I realize that, but that's about the best a 14 yr old could do. This will no doubt be a good life lesson but meanwhile I'm trying to get him back to "rubber side down!"

I’m sitting in the emergency room right now with my 13 year old. He was riding the q20 , hit a bump and the front wheel fell off causing him to fly over the handlebars and land on his chin. Luckily he was wearing his helmet but still, now the front forks are junk and he’s only had the bike for a week. Is there something more to the front wheel falling off ? Or is it common for those front wheel nuts to back off while riding ?

We'd have to ask ourselves why the front wheel came off in the first place.

I remember when i was 9, checking and rechecking my wheel nuts and bottom bracket nuts among other things ..ALOT

Yur the Dad? Ya might wanna check these things for your son if he was not already taught to do these checks by someone else.

Not trying to sound like a butthead and see where i do, but if you or anyone else decides to let their kids ride without checking the nuts and bolts first then that right there is not good. Hello.

Yes understandable , but he said that he checked them earlier in the day , as he was out riding with his friend. My question is : is it common for this to happen on an e bike. I never once worried about checking the wheel nuts on my regular bike growing up . Never had an issue with that.

We had better steel when we were younger. Some of this chinesium steel nowdays, like what our children and grandchildren have to deal with by todays standards, will not hold even when tightened to specs with a torque wrench, make sense mate?

I see where i sound like a butthead but think about it. With these changes, we see inferior steel which wont hold like what we were used
to in our youth, unfortunately for our offspring. Oh I know, i checked my grand daughters wheel nuts and she went for a ride and around a corner
the rear wheel came so loose and wobbly it was nuts, so i understand, just relaying some stuff that has helped us :)

YOU go through everything and be sure to use red and blue loc-tite.

Now my granddaughter goes through everything before rides with friends on their bikes which seems to upset them LOL

They are Safe though..make sense? ;)

Welcome to the forums

Simply put, Yes, because if inferior component material.

Yes understood, thank you for the answer , that’s what I wanted to understand. Because I was blaming myself for putting the bike together, but i triple checked to make sure everything was built properly and according to specs. If the issue is in fact cheap Fukushima steel than so be it , though it doesn’t fix anything , it makes me feel a bit better that it wasn’t because I didn’t tighten it down accordingly , even though i know i did !

How is he? Stitches he can show to the girls?
