I have a 36 volt ebike that isn't working correctly. The diagnostic tester that I have tells me that the rear hub motor is bad. I have an extra 48 volt rear hub motor. Can I replace the 36 volt hub with a 48 volt?

Thanks

Yes, check your controller specs. Most I have had will handle both 36/48 volts. You can also run the 36v hub on 48v for a substantial improvement.

Yes you can. A 48v rated motor probably has more windings than the 36v, at least you will not get the new motor burnt if not the other way around. However, there possibly will not be a obvious performance enhancement as the battery is still 36V. Hope this helps.
