Hi Joe,

It’s a bit hard to tell from the pics but it looks like you have a nut there holding the wheel on.

Once you get it off, you should be able to let the tire fall out of the drop out slot.

Below is a graphic on how to change the tire with tire wrenches. Please forgive me if you know this already. Some folks might not.

Looks like you'll need a socket spanner for that with a deep socket piece since the nut it set back quite a distance. The socket piece size for bicycles is 15mm where I come from, it maybe different where you come from.

Do you think the cable on his drum brake will have to be disengaged to get the wheel to fall out? I didn’t notice that at first glance.

I didn't notice this either! It seems like you can push the drum brake lever by hand and then slip the cable out if there's enough slack in it. Otherwise the brake cable will need to be loosened first using the fine adjustment screws.

Thanks for the replies. I believe I might need the socket spanner as suggested. The sockets I have don’t reach the inner nut.
I have added a few more zoomed in pics.

Thanks
Joe

Yeah, they didn’t make that nut easy for you to get to, did they?
You’ll definitely need a deep socket.

Here’s a full set on Amazon for about $12. Not a bad price for 10 pieces, IMO. This set is for a 1/4“ drive….not sure what you have.

Per the Q&A, each socket is 2” long.
