Need recommendations for a e-bike helmets that offer communication. I wear hearing aids that communicate with my iPhone via Bluetooth. Hoping there’s a good match for these hearing aids that will enable me to communicate with my wife while we both e-bike.

My wife and I purchased a pair of the Sena helmets and they work very well. However she also started riding an E bike about the same time so that made the helmets unnecessary as she could keep up better.
I found them to be comfortable but slightly heavy, however we ride longer distances so most people might be fine with them.

I did look at Sena but it looks to me that users aren’t thrilled with the app or the lack of instruction on how to update the firmware. It’s been my experience that even the best product can be frustrating if you don’t clearly know how to use it. Maybe some other users of Sena will jump in and tell me if I’m wrong.

Thanks for recommendations after additIonal reading we decided to go with the Sena R1. Bluetooth communication was important to us however the Mesh was not. Just wasn’t crazy about 9 public channels of people burping and hard breathing

I realize this thread is over a year old, but I wanted to note our experience with the Sena R2 helmets.

We have been using these helmets for a bit over two years and just love them. They easily connect to our iPhones via Bluetooth, and easily connect to each other for the intercom system. It really makes our trips more enjoyable. No yelling to hear each other, easy to call out obstacles from the lead rider to the trailing rider. The few times we have went on short rides without using the helmets, we felt lost without them. The only complaint that I have is when I want to listen to music from my iPhone to my helmet, it turns off the intercom system between helmets. I just downloaded the Sena app for my phone and PC and have not looked at the configuration within the apps so this may be something I just have not set up properly yet.

Only issue I have with the Sena helmets is when the battery dies, you cannot replace the battery. Turns a $159 helmet into a $15 one.

You *can* replace the battery, it’s just not a plug and play operation.
Any phone repair place should be able to do it if you don’t solder.

I'd like to know how. You would destroy the helmet trying to access the battery. Everything is glued together.

True but there is ways to replace screens and battery on iPhone and others. And a lot of Infor online on how to do it. No so for SENA R2 helmets. So in the trash it went. New a $169 in the trash :(

Response for Sena

We do not recommend to replace the battery of the R1 helmet as doing so has a high chance of the helmet being no longer safe for riding due to the way the battery needs to be replaced.

Additionally, the battery for our helmets are not meant to be replaced or repaired.
