Ordered an extra battery today

Yeah I figure since I’m heavy I may need it to ride trails - trails around me are less than 3 miles, but I hope to eventually do a few in one day, so I think I’m gonna keep the second battery in my suv where I can change it out if need be

Well, if you've decided to over prep. you might want to pick up an extra charger too. Velotric's charger plugs are completely proprietary and my one worry is that I will step on the end plug or just leave the thing somewhere when traveling. Besides, if you have two chargers and you are in a hurry, or need to run from the apocalypse, you can charge them both at once.

It should, but according to my order details, it is only the battery - the charger is listed as a separate purchase of 60 bucks

Hey, did you see within a month of your purchase from a dealer, if you fill out their form you get a free accessories bundle? You might have already done this, but I thought I would post it anyway. They also have a discount for any 2 items. Tell them your battery order is already in and ask about the charger.

We bought extra batteries for our bikes and yes they are not cheap....we like to ride longer distances then one battery can go. We tow a kid cart behind us for the batteries and a lunch. It's more than worth it for the piece of mind and convenience. I had to pedal back twice, one not too far and the other a mile. Lol wasn't my bike that ran out.

Yeah I'm real careful I don't end up walking or riding without power. With my 23ah battery I can go slow and pedal along and get about 50 miles on a charge.

Yep I hear you -once I get out there I’m gonna keep a close watch on battery level and if needed I’ll cut it and enable walk mode - read where it’s better to watch volts instead of the graphic meter as it’s more accurate?

I go by volts alone. The real catch is understanding that the top half or 50% holds more juice than the bottom half! But what I've found works for me is going until I have about 60% left then turn around and head home.

Great to know! Yeah I had seen videos where the drain is rapid after a certain point so I’ll use 60% as the magic number

Ahh don't just take my word for it your bike and battery may not act the same and we may have drastically different riding styles.
I will say if you're out and about and find yourself short on power slow to the lowest PAS setting and pedal along as much as you're able to get home with enough power.

Much appreciated - yeah sadly I’m pushing 3 bills on weight so maybe I should cut it a bit sooner - long gone are my 40s where I was a good MTBs rider

I want to get a second battery too. I have two bikes but only one battery that I switch back and forth between them. It works for me since I can only ride one bike at a time anyway. They both have the same battery holder so it's easy to switch it but sometime it would be nice to take someone like son in-law or neighbor/friend for a ride. I could also extend my range by taking it along for longer rides it only weighs 6.5 lbs 52V 10AH so not too heavy for my rear rack bag.

My battery weighs 10 lbs and as Annie stated I am over prepping, but don’t wanna be caught in a situation where I have to pedal. I feel the diff in bike weight loading it into my suv with the battery removed…Hope you get a good buy. - I think the batteries are overpriced IMHO

When I first got my Level 3, I used Turbo mode and could really fly around on the country roads. I could keep a 22 mph average on a 12 mile ride.
I thought this was great, and for me, it probably helped get me used to the bike.
Then I did the same thing on a 25 mile ride, and it really ran the battery down. I didn't have to pedal (or walk ) home, but I was down to 9% battery.
That was a watershed moment for me, and now I run in Eco mode most of the time, and only use Sport mode to help up some of the bigger hills.
Yesterday I had a really nice early morning Fourth of July ride of 28 miles using my new method of Eco and Sport modes only, and I returned home with 57% battery life. I actually feel like I'm getting a good bit of exercise.
I'm not always the quickest to pick things up, but I am trainable......
