Neat.

What's the charging like? How long would a full charge on a fully discharged battery take?

Wired up a nicesolar 100 watt panel this week. Really nice panels that are rugged it looks like.

Here's what we used

panel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09V2V3V5F
Controller https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K3FVCKG
And yes, the controller fits in the panel bag. Used t60 connectors.

Going to get the 300 watt panels for overlanding next.
What fitting do you use and does it have to charge at 48v? I have a 100watt portable solar panel and have ends that will fit into mine. Just don't or haven't looked into what I need to setup would have to be. Any place for information I can read more about using solar panel to charge e bikes? Thanks

You need a 48v/52v/72v solar controller like the one I linked, it'll work with any of your existing cables. Add whatever connectors you want.

Lots of youtube videos on this.

Depends on a lot of factors. With (2) 200watt panels and a controller, charging each battery separately, on a full sun day where the sun is high on the horizon, 6-8 hours or less I'd figure.

For long overlanding trips, I'd figure one day riding to one day charging if staying totally off-grid. Not fast, but possible.

You could also do a solar wagon. Lectric bikes have the ability to charge while riding so it says in the manual of I recall.

Again, lots of videos on that stuff too.

DC to DC is great.
Through your charge controller, as long as you can change the amps ( I usually go from 3 amps to 4 amps charging)
and the battery will charge a bit faster....however....that old addage stands true for the most part....low and slow ;)

Using solar to battery (jackery?) to inverter you will lose a bit and it'll take alot longer.

just my 2 cents :)
