Hello. It's good to join this great looking forum, I've built my first bike. Using a voilamart I think 1000w kit on a old Peugeot mountain bike, was really surprised at how fast it goes. Next step is to uprate the brakes which barely stopped it when it was normal,. Hoping to build another one later on. I didn't bother with peddal assist. The throttle suits me fine.

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin!

How about sharing a pic or two?

Unless you have fun in the process of building them, it is probably better to buy a bike that was engineered from the start for higher speeds and weight. As you noticed, brakes are an important part of that.
