• Is portability more important or having more gears and speed?
• How important is weight?
• Will you be riding a lot of hills? If so, how steep & long?
• What's your budget? You can spend as much or as little as you want. Would you rather have a lesser bike and have budget for a second one (for a spouse or kid) or just start with a higher-end one?
• What will your typical terrain look like?
