Hello,
I was wondering if anybody knows where I might be able to purchase a controller for a Populo lift ebike. This is the first generation lift(V1). It is about 4 to 5 years old. I’m getting a P1 Error on the display when I turn it on. According to the owners manual this error indicates a bad controller. This particular model is no longer made by Populo. And I have pretty much exhausted my leads searching the Internet. I am at the point now where I am contemplating buying a universal type 36 V 350W controller with matching display to retrofit the bike. I know after watching several YouTube videos on how to wire a controller that this can be tricky. Before I go that route I thought I would just ask if anyone might have an idea of where I could get an original controller. I have included a picture of the bike and the controller for reference. I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone might have to offer. Thanks!

Next time you want to post a useful picture, ROTATE IT so the freakin label is readable.

Count the wires or pins on the connector going to the motor, directly. Should be at least three, maybe 8, or 9. Sensorless (3), sensored (8), maybe temp sensor (9). Or the last one could be speed. Usually white, unfortunately for both. Get a compatible, modern controller with matching display.
