Nearly 40 years of MTB......

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin!

Personally, I think cyclists are making a mistake when they close their minds to eBikes until they can't ride "real bikes" any more. eBikes just open up SO many opportunities!

Enjoy your stay!

Hi All,
I am down on the South coast and have biked all over the place home and abroad. Thank god for E bikes as my health deteriorates.
My story exactly. BUT you can expect that health level to tick back up again. My cardiologist thinks its the only reason I haven't dropped dead and am not close to it yet.

If anything I ride more as an e-cargo bike now has replaced my auto for everything except long distance trips. I'll be scrubbing the rust off the brake rotors on my station wagon driving to Thanksgiving Dinner later this week.

Not a cycling enthusiast and never was...

I only bought an ebike because I wanted to commute on bike paths and avoid all the urban downtown traffic. My bike shaves about 5 minutes off my 8 mile commute compared to taking my truck. My plan was to run all on the throttle. I like that I can wear normal office clothes and not turn into a sweaty mess when I arrived at work. As it turned out, I find myself pedaling a lot, far more than I thought I would. Apparently I really enjoy the extra acceleration I get from a stop when pedaling or reeling in other riders on their ebikes. Even in winter I have to make a conscious decision to stop pedaling because I break into a sweat. I carry whatever I want on my bike and I don't even give it a second thought to how much things weigh. Modern ebikes are an absolute leap in technology and will (have?) dramatically change the culture of cycling.

I also use my bike for bar hopping but don't tell anybody...

Bike prices are cratering, you are about to see all kinds of people who never rode bicycles much purchasing ebikes. Its like they are unknowingly becoming more healthy. Heck, I lost weight and continue to do so and I'm not even trying.

As for the elitist's who don't consider ebikes actual cycling... I have no problem with that. The fewer miles they lay down compared to an ebike the better it is for everyone else.
