So i was wondering if anyone could tell me once a motor has become saturated is it possible to reverse the effects or remove the saturation or is it permanent irreversible damage? Thanks

The magnets become saturated with current which makes them max out on the magnetic flux and when power is applied to a saturated motor it cannot absorb any additional magnetic flux which causes motor to run inefficient, under powered, will try pull more current but cannot do so because of saturation which also degrades battery life and will cause motor and other components to overheat. Usually happens when you pull excessive current then what your motor is capable of or regularly ride under heavy loads. Is a topic rarely spoken about and most people don't know what it is.

My mind wonders if the magnets would be trashed at that point, or as you wondering, can they be brought back..

I wonder if it would make the magnets weaker at this point and not be able to be "re-magnetized" to proper strength..

What causes the saturation though ..

I'm pretty sure you can magnetise any dead magnet anf bring it back to perfect health but that's not the same as a overloaded magnet so no idea.

I think only a motor design engineer would know.

My degree is electronics engineering, but I don't know.

I would think the saturation would be temporary, or else it would be too easy to wreck motors with magnets in them. I do know that over time, permanent magnets in older style motors lose their magnetism, but I think the neodymium magnets used in modern brushless motors are more stout. This is just an educated guess though.

From what I could find on the internet, the term "motor saturation" is just another way of saying your motor is toast, sorry.

That doesn't mean that the motor STAYS saturated after power is removed. It just means that if you want to use it in a way (high load) that causes or is able to cause it to become saturated, you have to back off. (I think!)

It has nothing to do with the motor being toast. Please don't leave answers that will cause confusion for others if you don't know. A saturated motor has its magnets overloaded. How does that mean the motor is toast. Also them google ai answers I have found many times to be incorrect. It will even give an incorrect answer by using misinformation as a source. Has happened to me many times.

It's actually the magnets in motor that becomes saturated with current, overloading them. And from what I understand about magnets they won't just become weaker for no reason. Plus if too much current is what causes it and once saturated the motor will ask for much higher current to move because it cannot generate enough power anymore then all that happens after it has become saturated after that point with use is further over saturation

I'm sorry I put things so simply and AI is just a synopsis of what I have found. It is not the magnets that are saturated, it is the stator that can no longer manage an electrical field properly. If you wish to do further research you can read some of the articles at solomotorcontrollers.com. I will let you go find them yourself.

That is a pretty rude response for someone who went out of her way to try to help you. Shame on you.

Lol someone got upset. Bby born, bby born.
Srsly though I can just type it into google search and go off the Gemini ai answers but chose to ask here for a reason.. because the answers given did not satisfy me. Was clearly not answering correctly. So sorry I didn't jump on the first thing it said. Also the ai thinks you literally mean reverse the effects. As in if you give less current will it reduce the magnetism by unloading the overloaded magnets. No need to get upset. I was only educating you. And another thing obviously you done some research before giving this reply otherwise you wouldn't have gone with that ai answer and said it means the motor is toast. Lol. There's no need for attitude just because you gave dodgy information. Then to top it off you act like you know about it yet wont share? But it's fine because I know you still couldn't find the answer I seek.

Just to prove my point here is what Google's ai tells me if I word the question as 'can I fix a saturated electric hub motor' it thinks I mean water saturated for some reason. I would never use the word saturated in this way because to me if its saturated it means its soaked into like a sponge, and water sitting in a hub motor is just water damaged or been submerged in water.

Whoever is saying shame on me for being rude to someone who is trying to help me. I'd like to just say giving lazy and incorrect information is not trying to help me. Using Google search ai powered answers is not trying to help me. Please stop gad lighting because It's disgusting and shameful behaviour. And it's rather manipulative. Don't allow your pride to make you be petty and a sore loser. ANYONE can do a 2 second google search and screenshot the first thing that pops up (regardless of if its wrong) anf post it. Literally anyone. But this isn't a Google search its a forum and a place to share knowledge and information. Misinformation is not helping and imo is the same as trolling. It's embarrassing how some grown ass people are still such babies. It gives off a feeling of your unemployed because ain't no workplace putting up with a whiney bby. So what now.? I'm a bad person for stating facts? But it's the truth so what's the problem?
