Wondering if anyone has tried or considered it possible with some extra mechanical work to do multiple chainrings on a mid-drive.

It looks like it could be possible with some hacking with the cyc system, but I don't know.

I find the limited gear range on my single ring bbshd fairly inhibiting. High end gears limit speed to just past 30 mph and on the low end kinda starts to heat up with a steep hill and cargo.

I would like my next cargo bike build to be with a cyc system, and I want high power high speed, but would like something that can both cruise comfortably at 35-40 mph and climb a double digit hill with 150 lbs of carpentry tools plus 100 lb bike plus 170 lb rider.

Did you ever find one? I have not seen such a kit but would be interested in one.

I have a 42T chainring on my BBSHD, and an 11-42 rear cassette. I had to get a rear derailleur extender to clear the 42T cog and add about two inches to the derailleur cable housing. I off-road and the 42T cog has been sufficient to get me up most steep hills. But, I prefer a double chainring to a larger cog and the low hanging derailleur makes it more susceptible to bending out of spec.
