My son bought a used Funhang EB-S1 off of Facebook. Has rode it for the last month or so with no issues. About a week ago he hit a dip and wrecked. Since then the back tire would lock up after pushing the bike around five feet or so. We removed the battery and he was able to ride it just fine so definitely something to do with the motor/electrical side. He went tracing wires and found some that were frayed down by the kick stand. Looks like the metal tabs that hold the wire in place rubbed a spot in them or maybe they were smashed during the wreck.

He fixed them with some electrical tape and now the controller reads E 07. We've double checked the connector he unplugged and it seems seated well. We also turned the battery off and then the controller on to drain any residual power. Now it reads E 09.

I'm trying to test the controller but I have no idea which wires go to what. I've obviously figured out the phase and hall wires since they are the easiest but I'm not certain about the others. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this controller? The model number is JH4AJ7662DZQR.

If the motor was cogging you may have torn and shorted a phase wire, that would be your 07 error which is usually a motor fault. If the motor ran again, it may have blown a mosfet in the controller, that would be the 09 error. Can you tell me what display you have with that controller? The wiring will have no rhyme or reason as far as color coding goes, but you can take your multimeter and do some testing. You can also test your motor, by the plug, for a phase wire short. You may need some small alligator clips and some pins. If you need a new controller you will have to buy a new display to go with it, or they will not match. I'll post a typical controllers wire types to give you some idea. It is usually only the phase wires that are standard. I'll also post a list of some of the YouTube videos that may help.

Thank your for the reply. I've posted other places and your the first person who actually replied and is trying to help me. I've considered the fact that the stripped wires may have shorted out the controller and blown something.

Attached are pictures of the display. It doesn't have a model number on the front but it does have LCD-P3H-S1 on the back. I ordered a spare 9 pin motor cable with a female end today. Should be here in a day or two. I'm going to use that to test the motor along with one of those test boxes I picked up on Amazon.

I also attached a picture of the one I bought. The bad thing about it is that the instructions read like someone put them through a translator but never had someone who knows English read them because they are horribly bad. They mention something about detaching the motor speed wire before testing the controller but I have no clue which wire on my controller that would be.

I tried using it today to test the controller but all I got was a light saying it had power when I switched everything on. Turning the throttle gave me nothing on the box. The way the instructions read I don't need to hook the motor up to test the controller or vice versa. Hopefully I'm doing it right but given the poor instructions I could be wrong.

I'm calling it quits for today but that cable will come in tomorrow or Wednesday so I'll be fooling with it again then.

Area13 on YouTube has a good video that can help you with the tester. It is on the list above, but I'll also put it below. Do you have a multimeter? You're probably going to need that too. I have a feeling you are going to need a new motor cord. They are available. I looked up your ebike and it is basically a Chinese kit bike, everything on it can be replaced, but if the motor is fried, you will have to decide if it is worth it. There is another video by High Tech Low Life that shows you how to test your halls (Ignore his silly costuming) he is a good electrician. There are a couple of posts on Reddit for Dongguan jing controllers but you seriously can't trust any Chinese color coding. I'll post that here to for you too.,Watch a bunch of videos and see what you can figure out, then come back.

For anyone else who comes across this at a later date attached are pictures I took and marked up based upon what Funhang sent me about the controller.

Edit: The one labeled Don't Know that has a white connector, is the throttle.

Good for you for getting an answer from a Chinese ebike controller company!
The company that made the controller has not contacted me back but I sent Funhang a request through their website and within a couple of days they sent back that picture with most everything labeled so hell yeah!
