Are you guys happy with the charger you got when you bought your bike. This week end I got my first e-bike. Of course it came with a
cheap 2 amp charger. The instructions said it will charge a low battery in 3 to 4 hours. I notice after I finished assembly my battery was
about 3/4 full. So I put the charger on it for the first charge. It turned green after 4 hours. The second time after my second ride it took
5 hours & that was a four bar. Today I had it on for another 5 or so hours & another 4 bar reading. This battery
48volt 23 watt battery. The charger was warm not hot, the battery cover was a tad warm. Should I have kept it on till the green light comes
on the charger. That seems like a long time, but I also know it is just 2 amps. I,m I just being to causes. But would 6 hours or so, seem normal?

My 25ah battery takes 7-8 hours to charge.

My 35ah battery takes 10-12 hours to charge.

This is both battery's at 20% charge to fully charged.

Thank you I thought maybe that was it. I,m new to this but being 2amp charger for a 48 v & 23 ah is what I thought
being advertised 3 to 4 hours was a bit short. I went looking on Amazon & about all chargers made for e-bike were 2amp

Lectric sells a fast charger that is 5a for the xp2 and xp4. My 40ah battery came with a 3 amp charger. For practical purposes, the voltage drop is used for capacity, but in reality it is not linear. So % charge sometimes doesn't math right.

My Trek Fetch+ with a Bosch Cargoline mid drive came with a 4 amp charger which takes the battery from about 10% to about 90% in three hours.

Per the factory recommendations, I don’t run the battery flat, charging when it gets to about 10%, and I don’t fully charge, pulling the plug when that last bar is still flashing.

The battery is a 36 volt 500Ah unit. Which seems to be good for about 50 miles when used on the above charging cycle, not bad for a heavy cargo bike.

I’m thinking of picking up the 2 amp charger so the battery has an easier time of it.

You can know how long it takes to charge your battery by dividing your total amp hours by how many amps your charger is.
A 2 amp charger will charge a 10 amp hour battery in 5 hours.

I hear you. But I hear being that is a quick charge it will shorten the battery life. Do you use a 10 amp battery charger on
yours. I guess that is why I posed the original Question (What size battery charger do most use?). Fly

My chargers are 2 amp and 3 amp for my bikes and it usually takes about 4 hours from 20% to full. I also always run a fan of some sort circulating air around my charger which I keep elevated so air hits it from all sides, cooler is better.

Most factory bikes bms are set to only allow a certain amount of charge current that won't be enough to hurt your stock battery.

Well I,m going to stop worrying, you guy are very informed, & I,m dumb as dirt on this kind of thing. But just wanted to
find out if I,m OK, for now. As the ole saying is you must walk before you can run. I never realized that there is a lot to
know in this hobby. I,m having a lot of fun throw. Fly

Just a quick add on this, Bosch offers both a 2A and a 4A charger for their Smart System batteries. What you get with the bike varies from brand to brand and in some cases and in some cases model to model. My Haibike came with a 4A charger and my Wife's Cube had a 2A . The 4A charger is much quicker but I doubt Bosch would sell something that significantly reduced the life of their batteries so I would say 4A is good though it costs about 40 Euro more!
