It's generally frowned upon, but I decided to give myself a break, because:
  • Monday, I led the club's moderate ride, which is pretty much 100% effort for me. That was 40 miles on my road bike.
  • Tuesday, I did 9 miles worth of utility eBiking and another 24 miles with the club on a slow ride on my gravel bike
  • Wednesday/yesterday was mid-90s heat index and my legs were still a bit sore from Monday's ride
Wednesday club rides are beginner-friendly ride, supposed to be a 13-15 mph average pace. It wound up being 15.7 or so. We had a steady SW wind, which I was happy to help block and provide a draft from my powerless buddies.

It wound up being a nice recovery ride, thanks to my electric tailwind. I still drank 1.5 bottles of water and a bottle of electrolytes.

Here's a selfy with these suc... BUDDIES sweating their butts off on their road bikes:

Here's a previous pic my steed for the night, my trusty Aventon Level.2. I had four bottles in the trunk bag last night. It is shown here by the historic Southport Beach House (currently under rennovation) in Kenosha, WI:

The ride wound up being 71% in heart rate Zone 2 and 24% in Zone 3:

It came out to a 16 mile ride, and I rode to and from the starting point, so I got 35 in:

Here's our approximate route: (Kenosha is near the SW corner of Lake Michigan, USA)
The loop on the north end is the official ride, the rest is my commute to/from the starting/ending point of the ride:

Funny thing was that the starting/ending point of the ride is right near a biergarten, but they close on days when it's so hot. I don't know if they're trying to take care of staff or if they're afraid people are going to drink too much in a vain attempt to stay cool...

Hey Jeremy, is your rear trunk bag insulated or do you use ice packs to keep your H2O cold?

Jeremy, you got to get those boys some eBikes!
There are a few members with eBikes, but road bikes. They still want to LOOK like roadies. They always have to have an excuse to get one, too, for fear of others looking down at them. One guy has a pacemaker, but still wants to ride with the fast guys. One lady got older and weaker. Two ladies got fat and are calling it medical. I'm the only one who's unapologetic about it. I feel fine about my fitness, as I can ride a century with just a couple days of rest beforehand.

It's not insulated properly, but the lid and bottom are padded. I have two bike water bottles that are insulated. I fill them with ice first, then fill with water. They still were ice cold in the bag two hours later. The bottle cage bosses on that bike hold a FoldyLock Forever lock holster, so the one external bottle gets carried in the bottle pocket of the back, which is insulated on the sides but not the bottom.

My trunk bag is a Topeak MTX Trunkbag DXP:

On my muggle bikes, the bottles out on bottle cages don't stay cold nearly as long, maybe half an hour max.

Thanks! I purchased the Velotric battery bag to carry my 2nd battery so I’ll investigate it further

I know from years ago with my bike cages they didn’t stay cold long either
