First - I tried to post this in the Lectric Bike sub group, but I could not find a way to do it. So moderators please move if needed.

Background - I am looking for a folding e-bike for travel as I dont have room for a rack on the 5th wheel. I plan to carry it in a crate/tub , secured inside the trailer.

I have been watching the sale prices of the Lectric XP 3.0 step through long range on Lectrics web site.. One week it will be $1199 with say 6 accessories included, and then the next week the price goes up $100 to $1299 and they included 10 accessories saying this is a better deal. Amazon price stays at 1$199 with nothing else included (same for Best Buy my local dealer) . As for the accessories they count all the pieces in the accessory. Like the basket set includeds 3 parts and they list that one package as 3 free items included. It kind of bugs me they they raise the price and offer more accessories I don't need and call it a better deal.

This sales cycles back and forth (the price) and accessories included. Other than the baskets and the comfort seat I don't need the other stuff and I am not sure if the seat is OK due to my 260lb weight. I may go Cloud 9 and a separate suspension post based on the good reviews. I am retired so every penny saved is important.

Do they ever offer a better sale on the XP 3.0 bike - like Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Were close enough to those dates I can wait. I know I can use the coupon Lectric10 to get 10% off anything not included in thier packages. I wish they would just drop the bile price to say $999 and let me chose the add on's at the 10% off. I do want to get the fishing rod holder they offer.

Thanks for any help understanding thier marketing you can give.

BTW I have contacted thier customer service - very good at responding - also very good at BS-ing on thier sales or upcoming sales or future product improvements. Makes it hard to plan out a purchase.

Right now, it's $999 at this link (https://lectricebikes.com/products/xp-black) with the standard battery and "free" accessories. (bottle-shaped bike lock and bottle holder, phone mount)

I bought the Comfort Package (giant seat and suspension seat post) for my XP Lite, and I find it comfy, but I'm only 185 lbs. Bigger people usually prefer the Cloud 9, so you may want to save your pennies here. Add a shock to the seatpost later, if needed, as the big Cloud 9 seats are already sprung.

For the next day or so, this link will get you a nice package for $1300:

That's better "free" stuff in the second group and you basically just pay for the better battery, which is worth the money, in my opinion. I have the folding lock on my XP Lite, it's quite decent. I like that it has its own mount behind the seat tube, instead of taking up your water bottle bosses like the cheaper package above. It's much stronger than a cable lock, on par with a decent chain.

You should be aware that having the front & rear baskets on will mean that it will probably no longer fit in a large tote; they are quite wide. They are for people who will use it as a cargo bike, but will not be folding it for storage.

I wouldn't fret the last few bucks here and there. You will see promotions change over time, but it pretty much evens out. The only time you'll get an especially better deal is when they're discontinuing a model and the new one is on the cusp of release or just-released.

Last thing: The bare bike is 65 lbs. By the time you add a bunch of stuff, it's going to be over 70 lbs. This is a back-breaker for one person to lift into a vehicle. You could shave the weight and price by getting the XP Lite, but then you also lose the gears and some speed.

Thanks
First yes I am looking at the extended range XP3.o step through.
I understand on the baskets and folding. My brother has one and just uses the rear basket so it still folds fully according to him. I do have a ramp for the trailer steps so I can slide it up (or roll it up). DW can help too. Most of my use will be around campgrounds, etc so no real metal bike racks. Lots of trees though. I was thinking of getting a chain lock from Kryptonite locks.

Again thanks for your input and thoughts

Kryptonite chain lock sounds good. Make sure you get one long enough to go around a bigger tree or something. Around camp, lots of folks will have a saw and a smaller tree is quick work for an expensive eBike.

Sounds like you've considered some things a lot of first timers don't; good job.

What's 'DW'?

LOL it means dear wife AKA SWMBO.....................................................................she who must be obeyed!
