so last year i bought an keteles k800 2000w dual motor e bike and in just 2 months i got an e002 error code. so i went to keteles support to look for help on this problem, they said its my controllers. so i got new ones and replaced them. now this didnt resolve the issue and i dont know what to do now because i cant get a respond no more from keteles.

is there anyone who had this problem? or how to resolve the problem

That error on a Keteles is thought to be a problem in the wiring harness. You could start by going over that, looking for a short, or a problem plug. Do you have a multimeter to test for continuity?

i do have a multimeter but its kinda weird if i just replaced the controllers

There are a lot of YouTube videos on using a multimeter, you could start there. If you really just want to throw parts at it, try changing out the harness. This is from the Keteles website:

I also purchased a used Keteles K800 with the single motor. Error 02 as well. Replaced the controller and the wiring harness. Still the same issue. Strong 48V out of the battery. Even with all loads removed, with just the controller and display connected, it still errors 02. Can the the display unit cause this? If it is not the display, assume something must be killing the controller.

Any ideas?
TIA, D

There is a video on YouTube with a SmartTravel bike that has a similar problem and SmartTravel service dept.went all out trying to help him. They sent 2 different controllers, new light, new light switch and then paid for a technician to look at it. The bike still doesn't work. Most displays are not compatible with different issues of controller. Did Keteles guarantee this as a match? Also, do you get voltage at the motor plug? There are some YouTube videos on how to test a controller. You can see if the one they sent you is functioning. You said the bike is used, that makes me think your display might not be compatible with the controller depending on the year. Can Keteles send you a new display, that they know will match the controller you just bought from them? I'm suspicious it's an incompatibility problem.

Thanks for the reply. I only measured the voltage at the connection into the controller. The Controller appears to be identical to the original and matches what is shown on the Keteles site. The display seems to work at is should, so I feeling like one of the loads could be killing the controller. I will look for that video.

BiggKidd's thought is a good one, unplug your brake cutoffs and see what happens. I've also remembered, someone else with a Keteles was going 'round and 'round with this and he found that his plug to the battery was deceptive in how it was plugged in, it needed to be very firmly pushed and then suddenly his power was restored, so check that too.

Thanks Again. There is power to the display unit, just nothing else. I find it odd the even the lights do not work, but not sure how the controller communication would effect that. I replaced the Main Cable Assy and the controller. No change. What I am unclear about is the expected results of removing loads, like the throttle, motor, etc. Nothing seems to change the symptom.

The display has to match the programming of the controller, if it doesn't, it cannot interface between the two. If it were me I would ask Keteles to send their display which is guaranteed to match the controller that they sent you... OK. There is a thread on this forum " Yolin error on Ketels" go to that through the search box upper right and see if that helps. Read down through Cascades post, that member actually got in touch with Yolin to check the serial number on his display with that of his controller and they were not a match. I think that should be your next step.

Thank You, this does sound like a good possibility of a mismatched Display Controller. Since I am new to E-bikes, I have this question if you would know. Is it typical for minor things like the headlight and horn to not work with a failure like this? Does the microprocessor in the Controller/Display prevent power from going these? Even the USB phone holder is dead.? I was looking for a schematic of the pin out to confirm, but thus far no luck. I will investigate the controller/display compatibility.

This is an fantastic forum. Members are so quick to respond and courteous.

It's very common for mismatched displays and controllers not to work with one another. Have you ever walked into someone's giant living room and there is a series of switch plates on the wall and you keep flipping switches up and down, but for the life of you, you can't get the living room overhead light to come on? That is a bit like what your display is doing, trying to work a circuit board that has just a few of the connections in a different place. The rule of thumb these days is for people to buy a new display with their new controller if they want any hope of it working. Get back to us, as to how it's going and good luck.

Just wanted to let you know, I did pull the brake plugs and firmly re-seat the 48V connection. Unfortunately not change. Working the Display and controller compatibility suggestion with Yolin and Keteles. I have attached the pics of both if there is any interest. Thank You
