Now that there is snow on the ground here I'm done biking for the season, just can't risk it at my age.
So I was sitting here ruminating about riding in the snow and it suddenly occurred to me that having a torque sensing mid drive bike with it's variable power curve would probably be a lot more snow-friendly than a cadence sensor based "on/off" hub drive bike.

Does anyone have enough experience to chime in on this? Does it make a difference at all?

I don't have much experience with snow, but I definitely reckon a torque sensor would be better than a cadence sensor. As you already know, cadence sensors measure if you are pedaling and torque sensors measure how hard you are pedaling. A torque sensor would allow you to control how much power is being output and help you to limit any slippage.

Maybe someone else has some experience with cadence vs torque sensors when riding ebikes in the snow?
