Hi all,

I ordered new tires for my Trek e-bike and these say moped, are they ok for e-bike or not?

Assuming it fits, that’s perfectly fine. My eBike came from the factory with “Moped” labeled tires and hasn’t had any issues because of it. That tread on your tire looks like it’s meant for mountain/mud terrain though, so it might be slightly harder to pedal on the road.

Also, keep in mind that “moped” is short for motorized-pedestrian, so anything with pedals and a motor can be considered one.

That's what I thought as well, that the label might be there just to indicate that the tire is also legitimate for speed e-bikes or what not. The tread was not really what I was after and would have preferred a Marathon for example but I think it will be fine since it's sold as an allrounder.

Yes its fine. That designation is for tires made to the E50 standard, which is a tire that is the EU's (ultra conservative) idea of being capable of sustained 50 km/h speeds. 50 km/h is only 31 mph which is only barely higher than the Class 3 mandated assist speed here in the U.S.

In the EU anything that goes faster than 20 km/h and has more than a 250w power plant is considered to be a 'moped'.
