I was looking on amazon at ridstars when i noticed the 1200w q20 listed for dirt cheap. I know it says anything under $1199 is unauthorized and wont receive a warranty. has anyone purchases this yet?

What is their delivery fee? I'm guessing at least $200.00, that would put the bike around cost, which is possible with ebike sales going into winter. You'd just have to be prepared to work on it yourself, if they are getting rid of a batch with bad controllers or something.

Yes, there are a bunch showing up on Aliexpress too and there is a further sale, that they do each month starting tomorrow. I'm still trying not to get sucked into Puckipuppy deals, so far, I resist. I'm guessing there are some big design changes coming for next year.

What says anything under $1199 is a unauthorized? Ridstar's website?

Best case is that it is defective or returned. Worst case is that they won't even ship and will try to give you the run-around.

Look at the 1 and 2 star reviews for that product. 15% of those reviewed gave 1 star, 3% more gave 2 stars and another 3% gave 3 stars, so 21% of buyers or more than one in five aren't satisfied.

Avoid.

Well, if you know how to work on ebikes and you can put it on a charge card that has some kind of warranty protection you could give it a go. You are in Canada so you don't have our tariff stupidity going on, so perhaps they are discounting them that much. I bought an Engwe on Ebay dirt cheap and it ran fine, but the controller acted as if it was from a 1962 jet pack. It is now in the shed, waiting for me to get molex connectors and motor plug adapters to try and calm it down, so I might not be the best person to ask. If you're just looking for something to scooter around on and learn to take apart, then why not? In the very least you'd have a frame to throw other parts on.

Another trick is to actually mail you a package like a small pack of seeds, with a tracking number. Then say it was shipped and you received it. Lots of unscrupulous vendors out there.

If the price looks that low, it’s probably returned stock or a third-party seller skirting Ridstar’s warranty. Before buying, click the seller name and check their reviews, see if the specs and photos match the official Ridstar site, and confirm it’s listed as “new.” If the seller can’t provide a real serial number or photos, I’d pass. If you do try it, pay with a card that offers purchase protection or rely on Amazon’s A-to-z guarantee just in case it never ships or shows up defective
