Hub motor reversing switch

I have a 1000w 48v trike.I need to install a switch to enable the trike to reverse.With a normal DC motor,this is very easy to do using a DPDT switch.However,this hack can't be used on a hub motor.Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.Omtrevor.

It should be doable on any Direct Drive motor, however I believe you need a controller which supports it. Many do, not seen too many examples in use, though. I think it is possible to just add in such a switch, but never seen anyone do it that way, the controllers are fairly inexpensive.

I could use a DPDT switch and leave hall sensors disconnected for reverse.The motor should still run.
