How many of you would be riding a bike today if you didn’t have an ebike?

Yes absolutely beautiful scenery, but you have to deal with lots of hills to see it. My wife and I ride together on these back country roads, she can't get enough of them. We are always looking for new routes in our riding area and it really pays off searching them out.

With the temps we have been having, hopefully you are taking opportunities in the am or evening as it’s brutal during the day

Got my ebike 2 1/2 yrs ago due to a knee and hip replacement. We got us some hills around here...can't do a regular bike anymore. Got the ebike for some exercise....ride 4 to 8 miles everyday....5 days a week. I pedal in PA 1 most of the time....PA 2 on bigger hills. I never use throttle only. I love my ebike and love to ride.

I’m 53 and I can still ride a regular bike, but honestly I wouldn’t be riding nearly as much without an e-bike. The pedal assist makes the difference for me — it lets me go a lot farther than I could on my own and keeps the rides fun instead of feeling like a struggle. Without it, I’d probably just take short spins now and then, but with it I can actually plan longer routes and enjoy the ride. For me, the e-bike keeps me in the saddle way more often than I would be otherwise.

There’s a massive thunder and lightening show going on on outside right now. High winds and sideways rain included.

Maybe I won’t be riding my large metal electrical device today.

Nope… today the e-bike is a bad idea.

With very limited walking ability, my ebikes have given me back mobility. Living in the mountains, daily rides to downtown for coffee in the mornings with some buddies, 8 miles round trip on the Aniioki A9 (650 foot elevation change), home to grab the dogs and the class 1 Giant for their 3 mile walk through the woods. Then look for excuses to go back to town for a small grocery run on the Aniioki. 2 to 3 1 mile Street rides a day with the dogs on the Freego. None would be possible without the ebikes.

I'd still be riding a bike if I didn't get into eBikes.

Might still have my Trek Verve for utility duty. It had that triple chainring up front, so nice low gears for fully-laden shopping trips.

It’s definitely addictive once you get started - there are many days where I am extremely busy, but always try to make time in the evening to ride even 20-30 mins - great exercise and stress relief as well all know

Until E-bikes got really advanced with my health issues I never even considered riding a bike again. I spent from 05-07 learning to walk again after a large MS episode. MS is only one of my many health issues. About 10-15 years ago I had given up riding motorcycles on account of the difficulty of balancing the weight at stops and still having two children at home while being a single parent. My balance SUCKS! I may get another MC now that my kids are grown and off living their own lives. I still have an active MC license. But I'm working on a cross build MC and bike with funky solar powered fairing. lol I plan to ride this as a bike keeping the speeds generally in bike range (under 30mph) even though it should be capable of cruiser MC speeds in other words a little over 100mph... I was a drag racer for over 20 years and still feel the need for speed from time to time.
there are trikes...2 front or two rear...no balancing at stop signs etc. also honda has a self balancing motorcycle but i don't think it is available yet. ride on bro.

I haven't actually started my e-bike build yet on account of having to take a break from buying parts. Then I learned they are trying to outlaw e-bikes here in Va. But the more I think on it I am leaning a little toward building a traditional trike. Those goofy looking ones with two wheels up front may well have their place but not for me! I think they are --------- I can't or I'm not willing to say what I actually think about what they look like or remind me of, this is a place where kids may go after all!

during covid i bought a pedal bike..kona mahuna...hated it! it just hurt so much. i am 67 and still think i am 19! my ebike is a fat tire step through. i only ride about 10 miles on pa1, never on the street, and i throttle only home. this way i am moving my legs so i hopefully don't lose them to diabetes or something. i throttle home so that i get the breeze and am not tired or sweaty when i get home, just relaxed from a nice scenic ride. great invention these ebikes, keeps us old farts from becoming full time couch potatoes.

yes sir the can ams are butt ugly snowmobiles for the street..still better than not riding at all, just not by much.

I am 77 and have been riding for 75 years. I just got an ebike and am enjoying it but still ride my Trek 2.3 often.
I feel a bit guilty riding the ebike as I can ride the pedal bike with no issues. Perhaps that will fade as time goes on.

Tom, the thing that changed it for me was when I realized I take the eBike for many rides I would normally take a CAR for, not a bicycle.

When I think of it from the standpoint of "eBike or no bike", it seems more reasonable to take the eBike. It's a utility vehicle for me.

If your eBike is one that doesn't have much utility value, this may not work for you. But if so, DO consider getting a utility-type eBike. They're damn useful, and (if you want) they get you more exercise than a walk, less than a run, and with less impact than either.

My dream is when I retire, sell a car or two and replace them with a cargo eBike. Maybe by then, the climate in southern WI will be such that winter is not much of a discouragement for a grocery run. The warmer places people used to retire to seem plagued by either hurricanes or wildfires now.
