hi, I've been riding electric motorcycles and building ebikes for years, basically installing kits. I've recently bought a crazybird jumper. it is a Chinese made fat tire 52v, 750w bafang motored step thru Walmart bike. this one will be used mainly for riding a canal path behind my house and walking my dog(no leash). I am 66 years old, 6'3, and 250lbs, I'm not as active as I should be. I am not interested in speed but I would like a bit more bottom end grunt if that's possible, it kind of reminds me of a trials motorcycle I used to own without the oomph. I don't know if there is an area for fat old guys who don't want to pedal a lot and ride pretty easy trails. I understand that my bike isn't even considered good but they got good reviews at $1899 and Walmart dropped them to $949 so I figured why not. I was advised to buy Walmarts extended warranty because the parent company might not be around. any thoughts on this bike positive or negative would be appreciated. if I really enjoy it I may buy a better bike in the future. I've built an emountain bike for my grandson but never rode it, built a Schwinn adult etrike for my dad and rode it often and I built a occ Schwinn stingray echopper for my own needs and finally decided to get a bike that fits me.

Welcome aboard! I think it's a good looking bike but it weighs 97 lbs. that's going to effect its agility. You've got a Bafang 750w with a 52 volt system. If you get a chance, can you tell us about your controller, Is it sinewave and what sort of amperage did they choose for it?

my agility will be more of an issue than the bikes. I won't be tackling any downhills or dangerous terrain, this is just for putting around. I have no idea what my controller is or if sine wave is a type or a brand. I will pull it out and look at it when it stops raining. as for the 97 pounds..yeah it's a porker but I figured the weight means frame strength as the step through weighs more than the step over version of the same bike. and it has a 3mph walk mode so unless it stops working it's not an issue but if/when it does I may just push it home.

the controller is jammed into the frame down between the pedals and I am not going to take apart a fine working brand new ebike to find out. there are 2 videos on YouTube about removing and replacing the entire wiring harness and controller. they show the controller often but never good enough to read anything written on it. they all look alike to me, maybe you could tell. crazybird doesn't sell parts, I figured I could find out that way.

Well, it's good that you've got some videos out there. No need to take it apart until you have to. I was just wondering about the amperage settings because you had wanted a bit more torque.

my display only allows for setting metric/imperial, rated voltage, pas level, wheel diameter, speed limit, password and auto sleep. I know other displays allow more, such as amperage draw(set to below battery max discharge level) how much power at what speed etc. I just don't know if I could switch displays and get what I need. this one only has p1-p7 I've seen as many as 15 on other displays.

sucks to be me then...I am not going to spend a lot on this bike, I always go overboard and put way too much money into my bikes...case in point..I just did a $50k rebuild on a motorcycle I bought new for $2200. did similar with others. promised myself not to go down the rabbit hole this time.

I don't know that controller company at all. It seems set properly for the middle range of your bike. It's odd that even the wheel size is preset. I haven't seen that before. You can always wait and if the controller has issues upgrade to a KT controller and display then. It might cost around $160.00 or so, give or take a bazillion dollars in tariffs. So,for now, just have fun.

p4 sets wheel diameter and I could say its a smaller wheel and gain top end but my speedometer wouldn't show it. I'm fine with 25+ mph most of the time I will be going MUCH SLOWER in the woods, but there are steep little hills with no run up. I'll figure something out or just enjoy what I have.
