This isn't something I was wanting to do but I had a blow out on the rear tire yesterday so, here I am. This morning I disconnected the derailer, disconnected the ,motor cable and loosened the axel nuts and removed the brakes. At this point, I expected the rim to just lift off the frame. No such luck... after applying some penetrating oil and a few good tugs, it seems something is still holding the rim to the frame. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Pictures for reference.

I would use a piece of wood and a hammer and tap each into the axle gently upwards. I can't see anything that would be holding it but I'm not there looking at it closely either. Are there flat sides to the axles? If so are they twisted in the slot? If so the axle may need to be rotated double nut one end of the axle and try to twist it. Hope that helps!

If you enlarge the picture of the side with the sprockets and the motor cable you can see that there is a keeper or spacer around the axel. I've been a little hesitant to bang around on that too much. Maybe if I concentrate on the other side and work it loose, I can use the leverage to work the other side looose as well.. It seems to be stuck on there pretty good.

Update: It seems that the penetrating oil did it's job. After letting it sit for a couple of hours it worked loose. I'm attaching some more pictures for reference. For anyone who's concerned about replacing the rear tire on an ebike(I know I was) I would just say take your time and take lots of pictures and notes and you'll be fine. Also I might add that it's been in the 90's here in Alabama for the last two weeks and I think combination of an old thin tire and hot roads is what caused the inner tube to pop.

Looks like the penetrating oil did it's job.
