77 years old and been riding Trek fitness bikes for years. Still able to do 5 miles 3 times a day, but getting tougher. Just started looking into ebikes in hopes of doing longer rides. Hope to learn the ins and outs before buying my first ebike.

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin!

Why three times per day, instead of maybe a 30-60 minute ride ONCE per day? Are you bringing your dog along or something?

There's a guy in a local club who is a retired farmer from Iowa; he treated himself to an eBike when he turned 80 and he's still doing great. Stay in shape and keep an eye on your diet and you should have at least another 10 years in you.

Trek makes good eBikes too; some of the very best in the USA. It's a good place to start; they have lots of good choices and no bad ones, unless you've got a really tight budget. (they're good, but not cheap)

Enjoy your stay!

I'm diabetic and use a bike ride after meals to burn off glucose. Also 5 miles is about all I can do right now before knee pain. Hoping the ebike will help me take longer rides. Thanks for the suggestions

Welcome from the PNW........ebikes are great....been riding for a couple years after knee and hip replacement.....love it. Good luck in finding a bike and safe riding wishes.

bcraig - You may want to look for a bike that has a Class 2 mode, one with throttle, so that you can use it to get you moving. That is the biggest strain on the knee in cycling, is starting from a stop when you need to apply all that force and things aren't turning yet.
