Hello all, just purchased a Velotric Nomad 2.

As a first time e-bike owner I am impressed with the capabilities and technology of the Nomad 2. So far, I am very pleased with the bike and its performance. One nice feature is the ability to monitor the motor temperature, which living in south to Florida is important as I usually operate the bike outside of the “ comfort zone” ambient temperatures. I want to adjust my riding habits to keep the motor within a moderate temperature range, and I want to set a not-to-exceed target temperature that, when met, I can adjust riding style to lower the motor temperature. But I have yet to find a suitable not-to-exceed moderate temperature.
I have emailed Velotric customer service for this answer and the reply appears to be a scripted answer, or they don’t fully understand my question.
So I decided to join this forum with the hope that some experienced riders can provide some helpful advice regarding tips on what motor temperature is an upper limit within a moderate temperature range?

I've done a little research on this topic and from what I can tell at this point is boiling point is overheating. Most all these motors appear to be built to withstand 212f or 100c far as the shielding and materials go. Now personally I'd try hard to keep the temperatures under 175f and the lower the better in my opinion.
 
My Velotric bike display has motor and controller temperatures listed on the bottom of the screen and I never really pay much attention to them. Starting tomorrow I'm going to start recording them when riding uphill and pushing the bike hard. I doubt I could over heat anything as I always ride in ECO, but it always good to take notes and document a starting and ending temps.

Agreed. Lacking any guidance from Velotric on this issue, I take a break when the motor temperature reaches 140 F. Probably too conservative, but it has not impacted my riding style.

I went on my normal morning ride today, 70 degrees out when I left the house. The ride is semi hilly and 8 miles long with some good climbs, it takes 22 minutes pushing hard on the bike. Motor temp was 80 when I started and climbed to a max of 131, Controller temp got up to 96 max. The motor temp would hover around 120 on the flats but jumped quickly on the hills to 130. The bike is a Velotric Breeze 1 and the ride is a good cardio workout every morning as long as I do my part. The entire ride I stayed in ECO PAS 3 to 5, the bike has 15 levels of PAS so I was being conservative with the power of the bike.
 
I also select ECO PAS 3 to 5, but our ambient temperatures in south Florida are outside of the normal comfort zone. At 7 am the heat index is already 85 degrees, so when I ride I monitor the motor temperature so as not to exceed 140 degrees.

The temp reading will turn yellow once the temps start to get to high. On my D2 thats 175 F. Don't ask me how I know.
 
Welcome to you Cujo! I’m relatively new here and have the same bike as you - you will find better advice here with the knowledgeable and friendly people than from Velotric. I have been rather disappointed with the vendor support, but between my local shop and the good folks here, you’ll get the answers you are looking for
 
Thanks. I am very surprised that Velotric stopped responding to what I thought were reasonable questions about some of the technical aspects of the bike. It appears questions are answered by an AI script, then forwarded to the customer. If questions don’t fit the script then don’t expect a response.
 
And as I had mentioned in a previous thread, the customer support number they posted is bogus - you cannot get a human

My experience with them on the email front has been if you’re interested in purchasing something, you will get a response; otherwise, nothing - I’m glad I purchased mine from an authorized dealer, as he is extremely good
