I'm wondering if a Heinzmann rear hub can be used with a single speed freewheel and positioned to keep the correct chainline for single-speed use - Without major grinding or filing?
I suppose what I'm asking is whether the drive-side axle dropout spacing is achieved with a collar over the axle or is the diameter change machined onto the axle. And whether there is enough spare axle on the non-drive side to accomodate a spacing nut or two inside the dropouts.
If anyone has installed a Heinzmann with a single-speed freewheel I'd love to hear how it worked out.
