New here, of course. I use ebikes primarily for hunting. I bought a Quietkat Lynx last year, but found it was really not designed for hunting... I've kept it as my granddaughter likes to ride it around our property (we have a few acres outside of town). After some research I recently bought a Faceoff ebike. I've only had it a couple of weeks and really haven't had a chance to try it out in the hills, etc. I'm 74 and my son is 38 and we will be sharing it in hunting season. So far I like the feel of the bike, but there are some things I'm not sure about with it. One problem in our area is that there are no ebike dealers close by, so if repairs or adjustments are needed it makes it tough as the closest one is 135 miles away and he keeps very, very busy!

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin!

No local support is tough. Do you not have any local bike shops you could support, at least by giving them maintenance business? They may not be willing to work on the internet order bikes though.

I admit that I do wonder why a hunter would want an eBike instead of an ATV. ...unless you're hunting squirrels, rabbits and birds?

I hope the FaceOff works out for you. Do you have a trailer for it?

I just bought an eBike that I'm told is popular with hunters, a Reid Tracker 2. Fat tire, 750 W hub motor and geared lower for just 20 mph, so it has the torque to pull something. I use mine for winter commuting and the odd trail ride.

Welcome to the forum. Hope that ebike works for you and good luck with the hunting. Used to do a lot of elk and deer hunting in Colorado.....never used an ebike. We did take ATVs with us.....very helpful when packing out a huge bull.....can't imagine doing that with an ebike. Most of our hunts were up in the high country.....5 to 7 thousand feet. Hope you find what works for you.

A lot of landowners out here do not allow ATV's. I wanted something quiet to basically get in and out of to where we hunt. Often times it's 3 or 4 miles to get to where we start hunting. I do have a trailer, but I'll probably just put in the back of my pickup. My son does have a 4-wheeler to haul out anything we kill. Nope..no local bike shop either, but I did find a shop in Great Falls that works on ebikes, but nothing local.. Just have to learn to work on them ouselves for the minor stuff! My grandkids love riding them around our place, we take them when we go camping, etc.. They're mostly for hunting, but they get a lot of other use!

Ya, we have a 4-wheeler to back critters out with. I drew a special permit in the draw this year for the Missouri River Breaks for either sex elk..took me over 40 years to draw the permit, so the ebike will help me get around better. As I said, I'm 74 and still in good shape, but need all the help I can get. No 7,000 foot elevations in the Breaks, but it's rugged country..very rugged.
