Hello everyone - my wife and I are virgin e-bikers - in fact we're still waiting to see our new bikes. We put down a deposit last week at our "local" dealer on 2 Aventon Level 3 bikes and they are expected to arrive later this week. We are refugees from California and loving life here in Tennessee - looking forward to learning about the e-bike culture and the care and feeding of these machines. Are there any local groups here in the Lewisburg/Chapel Hill area that have quasi-regular meetups for rides and such?

Just like regular bikes, there are different facets of eBike culture. On one hand are old, crippled or overweight people who just need some help getting around. On the other hand are kids who don't want to pedal and want to go as fast as possible. Different levels between.

I have an Aventon Level.2 and it has been a great eBike for over 2,000 miles now. I'm sure your Level.3s will be too. The need to subscribe for certain features rubs me the wrong way though. I don't need a damn eBike company's fingers in my paycheck. If you don't like that either, invest in a pair of good locks, either HipLok or LiteLok that are angle-grinder-resistant.
