New to forum from Southern California. I am planning on electrifying my Vintage British Raleigh Bike. It’s a Mixte model from the 70s/80s era and I love the classic looks of it. Since the bracket measured at 40mm or less, Mid drive motor maybe out of the equation. The wheels come in at 27.5 inch.
I have a golf cart electric trolley that has a battery pack 36v==5200mAH==192.4WH and I’d like to use that for the ebike while I’m not golfing and vice versa.
Anyone here got any blue print I should follow?
Does my list of what I described about sounds promising? Do-able?

Hi; Raleigh made some fine mixte frames in the 70s, 80s. From your pic, the headtube seems very upright, Should be 70-74 degrees as I recall. I would examine the frame for any damage before starting the project. On a closer look, it's probably a photo illusion. Your bike appears in beautiful condition and the mixte is an ideal basis.

What's up fellow Vintage Raleigh owner.i too have an antique Raleigh,1967 to be exact. Its a single speed and I have a 3 speed StormeyArcher Internal geared rear hub for an upgrade. It's all flat lands where I live so there's no need for more gears for the pace I ride at I was seriously thinking of converting to electric assist but I still like to pedal the ole Gal. Let me know if you convert and how you made out. Pleased to make your acquaintance VictorObrian

Hi again; A word of warning for Raleigh bike modifiers: Nearly all bike manufacturers were frame builders and assemblers using stock parts; off the shelf. Not Raleigh nor Schwinn. Both, especially Raleigh, pre 1980s, manufactured there own stuff. While during this period there was a lack of interchangability due to different metric specs from Italy, France and Britain, Raleigh was notorious for doing things their own way. Example: Cottered cranks on Raleigh have the cotter pin 180 degrees off from common practice which loaded the fat part of the pin on the down-stroke. In reality, this mattered naught, but whene we would service Raleigh brackets,, we'd "correct" their error.

Did you get this done? Ive gone and converted an (older) Raleigh. At its exclusivly for the road, ive gone with a rear hub to drive it and all the electrics in a 1970s pannier bag.

Love the Raleigh. The wheel and tires: What sizes? These conversions will have a problem when using larger tire sizes. The clearances are not there, in most cases. Especially with fenders.
On my Genze e22b, I have used Schwalbe 2.35 tires in place of 1.75s. My max inflation pressure is now 25# which may not be enough!

On mine the factory tires are 26 x 1⅜ , approx diameter of factory tires is 665mm. The new tires are 700 x 28c, and have a diameter of 685mm meaning the edge of the tire is about 10mm closter to the fender. I had to make longer fender stays to push the fender out a little so they didnt rub the tires.
