Gotrax Tundra tire pressure max 20lbs

Be sure to do some tests.

20 lbs.. 15lbs...24lbs....so you know where your comfort level is for you.

Some people like the tires really firm some like them soft and cushy.

Welcome to tjhe forums, by the way!

Thanks Human for the welcome . Generally I don't like to go over the maximum inflate pressure listed on the side of the tire. I do like to keep the tires on the firmer side and fully inflated. So I'm not sure about going to 24lbs but if concensus is that it's really okay to do so maybe I'll try. I'm at 250lbs, so this bike is up against its weight limit

20lbs it is :)

As you lose some weight you'll find possibly smaller (2.6 inch wide or 3.0 inch wide tires will suit your needs ;)

Yeah, cheaper 20x4 tires and tubes will bust if you bottom out at 20psi and weigh 250+. I had to ride at 17lbs in both tires until I picked up some premium all season tires and puncture resistant tubes that could support my 260lb ass at 20PSI.

Is it common for fat tire bikes to blowout tires? Or is it more about the tire brand? I did add FlatOut Tire Sealant expecting that to help reduce flats, but I never thought about a blowout.

Do fat-tire-bike-guys carry extra tires and tubes as a backup?

By the way, at 260lbs I used to ride my road bike with skinny tires and 125lbs in the tires. Today I’m really enjoying the comfort of the fat tires and ebike ease of pedaling.

It’s much more probable for those over 250lbs to 300+ running max pressure is meant for those not exceeding 180lbs of body weight. Adding 290lbs on 20lbs psi in both 20x4 tires increases the pressure to 38-40lbs in the rear and 30ish in the front while seated. Now hit hard bump at 32-38mph.. the down force can double your body weight slamming into the rear tire if you’re seated. Cheap tires and tubes that are already over pressured can’t handle that type of abuse. Running just a few lbs under (17lbs) helps alleviate this seam and sidewall pressure quite a bit. Or buy premium tires and tubes and then you can have that nice higher pressure ride for the road and transitions . It only took one hard bump at 20psi to blow a standard 20x4 rear tube that easily pushed the cheap tire out of seat as they have very flimsy side walls.
